How come we never noticed this level of distortion when Ps4 PRO was doinbg the checkerboard rendering to hit higher Res in performance modes?

What do you mean never noticed?

Killzone SF checkerboard upscaling was nitpicked to death.

Is this class action lawsuit worthy

Oh the lens flares and bloom.

I didn't play that game. Most Pro games I've played apart from Cyberpunk 2077 which was just fuzz unless you locked the console to 1080p, seemed decent. God of War & GoW Ragnorok for example had brilliant performance modes. Maybe it was there but nothing as apparent as WuKong or these Unreal 5 games, I was looking into adding Jedi Survivor to my buy list but even on ps5 it's atrociously bad. I can't imagine how much worse it is without YouTube compression blurring it out the fuzzy and smoothing the oily movement.

Tried to reply got this?

Last non VR game I played was Spiderman 2, that looked very good. I've read the DF review of Wukong though. What's the point of all these modes if none really work. What's the point of consoles anymore when Devs stop optimizing for the hardware. At least they still do for PSVR2. Fixed framerate of gtfo.

Hmmm, it's not letting me reply either.
At any rate, to answer your question, PS4 Pro typically rendered games above 1080p, where reconstruction artefacts are less noticeable.

Wait. PS5 renders below 1080p and then AI upscales? Damn I hope Switch 2 doesn't go this route.

For third party games, zero doubt the switch 2 will render well below 1080p and upscale, which creates artifacts.  For 1st party titles I don't see rendering below 1080p.  But there is no change the switch 2 is going to render SH2 remake, Warhammer, Alan Wake, Black Myth, MGS3 remake, etc at 1080p.  I'm not convinced it will render at 720p.  The S2 simply won't have the power, given the hardware is based on mobile technology.

Haha, I fully expect that for most 3rd party AAA titles. I'm not the kind of person who buys Witcher 3 or Doom on Switch. As long as Nintendo, Falcom and Atlus don't abuse AI upscaling on Switch 2 I'm good.

You should be more than happy with the S2.  Cartoon/artistic games don't require much horsepower.  Metaphor, according to Steam, recommends a gtx 970 for 1080p/60fps.  The Steam Deck is more powerful than a gtx 970 and there is no reason to believe the S2 won't be a step up on the Steam Deck, given the S2 is newer.  My best guess, S2 games will easily be 1080p/60fps, maybe even 1440p/60fps.

Well, oddly enough Monster Hunter Wilds looks better on PS5 than on PC. The PC all maxed out is a sickeningly sharp image with over detail while the PS5 is a softer image on the environments and clothing which I much prefer even though the PC version technically looks more graphically impressive. This is a really odd problem like when you watch films at 60fps, it just doesn't feel right and I hope this issue is ironed out for 10th gen cause I doubt I'll be able to play games that cause the sickening effect of over detail or whatever is going on to cause this issue.

Only in certain games, such as FF16 or some UE5 titles in performance mode, where they slash resolution to hit 60fps.

FF16 for instance goes as low as 720p in combat, Immortals of Aveum is 720p, Alan Wake II in performance mode is 847p.

So "impossible ports" to Switch 2 from PS5/XBS will probably use AI to reconstruct from quite low resolutions, but stuff actually built for the hardware or just simpler less demanding games should be fine.
