So another year has passed. How much have you spent for games in 2023? (poll)

And how much have you spent on gaming hardware in 2023?

Here are the similar theads of the last years:

Gaming is my main hobby, so I increased my monthly budget for games + gaming subs to 200 €... because... inflation.

Since I got my first Steam Deck early 2022, most of my game spending goes to PC software.
At home my PC was always my main gaming device, but now it is also my main platform for my "handheld time".

I still get good PS5 (timed) exclusives and play some multiplatform games with PS+, but my Playstation spending hadn't been increased without PSVR2 games.

I used to buy many Switch versions of multiplatform titles which I wanted to play on a handheld... now I only buy the Nintendo exclusives (or if the Switch version is better than the PC version, f.e. "The House in Fata Morgana").

My games which costed €10 or more:

  • €59 - Alan Wake 2 - Deluxe Edition (PC)
  • €35 - Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge (PSVR2)
  • €30 - Super Mario RPG (Switch)
  • €33 - Assassin's Creed: Valhalla - Complete Edition (PC)
  • €30 - Gran Turismo 7 (PS5 + PSVR2)
  • €30 - The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch)
  • €28 - The Expanse: A Telltale Series + Bonus Episode (PC)
  • €27 - Crysis Trilogy Remastered
  • €26 - Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty (PC)
  • €24 - Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (PC)
  • €24 - Resident Evil 4 Remake (PS5 + PSVR2)
  • €23 - RoboCop: Rogue City (PC)
  • €22 - AI: The Somnium Files 2 - Deluxe Edition (PC)
  • €22 - Hogwarts Legacy (PC)
  • €21 - Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One (PC)
  • €21 - Yoshi's Woolly World (Wii U)
  • €20 - Moss: Book 2 (PSVR2)
  • €19 - The 7th Guest VR (PSVR2)
  • €19 - Kayak VR Mirage (PSVR2)
  • €19 - The Case off the Golden Idol + both DLCs (PC)
  • €18 - Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard (PC)
  • €18 - God of War (PC)
  • €17 - Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time! (PC)
  • €17 - Layers of Fear 1 + 2 Remastered (PC)
  • €17 - I Expect You To Die 3: Cog in the Machine (PCVR)
  • €17 - Colossal Cave VR (PC + PCVR)
  • €17 - The House in Fata Morgana: Dreams of the Revenants (Switch)
  • €16 - Resident Evil 8 Village (PS5 + PSVR2)
  • €16 - Red Matter 2 (PCVR)
  • €16 - Kena: Bridge of Spirits - Deluxe Edition (PS5)
  • €15 - Psychonauts 2 (PC)
  • €14 - Tokyo Chronos (PCVR)
  • €14 - Before Your Eyes  (PSVR2)
  • €13 - Neon White (PC)
  • €13 - Star Trek: Resurgence (PC)
  • €13 - Alan Wake: Remastered (PS5)
  • €12 - The Hand of Glory 2: Roots in the Sky (PC Kickstarter)
  • €11 - Monolith (PC)
  • €11 - Steins;Gate Elite (Switch)
  • €11 - Stein's Gate: My Darling's Embrace (Switch)
  • €11 - The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe (PC)
  • €10 - Children of Silentown (PC)
  • €10 - Altdeus: Beyond Chronos (PCVR)
  • €10 - Lucy Dreaming (PC)
  • €10 - Nine Noir Lives (PC)
  • €10 - Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series

€9 - €5:

Ion Fury, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, I Expect You To Die 2 (VR), The 13th Doll, A Bavarian Tale: Totgeschwiegen!, Desordre, Rez Infinite (VR), Ghost on the Shore, Chaos;Head Noah, Mia and the Dragon Princess, Resident Evil 7, Diablo 2: Resurrected, After the Fall (VR), Twin Mirror, Amid Evil (VR), Another Fisherman's Tale (VR), Mothergunship: Forge (VR), Propagation: Paradise Hotel (VR), GORN (VR), New Tales From the Borderlands, Gotham Knights, Monorail Stories, Project Wingman (VR), Mutropolis, Hiveswap: Act 2, Voodoo Detective, Lorelai, Carly and the Reaperman (VR)

My spending on gaming hardware wasn't low either last year... I treated myself with some PC-upgrades (RTX 4090, Ryzen 5800X3D), a big 4K monitor (LG OLED42C27), a PSVR2, a Switch OLED and a Steam Deck OLED 1TB.

*looking at my mail confirmations and bills*

107.43€, so just barely in the 100-250 category

I dunno, lets say around $600. So... $598 sounds about right.

Give or take, casue im uncertain about how much I paid for certain games I got on sale.

$70 for Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. I already had paid for both Playstation Plus and gamepass prior to the year so didn't spend anything additional on them.

Full-price I bought 6 games, so that's ~ $300 there already converting to USD, plus a bunch of cheap Steam sales stuff.

Sorry I didn't look up the price for each item, and I'm going to estimate about 200 dollars in digital purchases.  The digital purchases would have only been because of a steep discount or for nonexistent physical releases.  I thought I had some PS4 games in there as well, but the last two I purchased was at the end of 2022.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

At least $463.01. Mostly on discounted digital games.

Well, if we are counting hardware purchases into the mix then my Quest 3 + accessories cost me along the line of 1200 CAD$.

Software wise, it was about 700$ roughly estimated.

In comparison to last year, it was 4 times more the budget I had.
Good thing this year doesn't look to be a repeat of that .... Unless a certain Super Switch rears it's head at the end of the year lol

Yeah, this year is probably a lot cheaper for me... at least on the hardware side.
