Sony's entire first year of the ps4 was ps3 games but in a blue case this time. I don't like all the wii u games on the switch but at least nintendo has an excuse for that

With the PS4 games on ps5 most of them are free upgrades or $10 fee to upgrade. Switch has many Wii and Wii U games and charge full price.

That's true. Even as a Nintendo supremacist I can't defend that. I tried for like 30 seconds and couldn't come up with anything

This game will repeak on December

People are forgetting the whole reason everything gets the “next Gen upgrade” on PS5 and Xbox is because they’re not actually drastic leaps in hardware. It’s relatively easy to port them over with a frame rate boost and call it a day. Whereas Switch 2 is going to be a huge hardware leap. I highly doubt we’ll be seeing many Switch games brought over to 2 unless they get the full “remake” treatment (which Nintendo is definitely not doing for a 2D Mario game released this year lol)

They are big leaps in hardware, the Series X in particular is a huge step up from the base Xbox One. The gap between the Switch and Switch 2 if bigger than that won't be much bigger.

Yes. Also with the amount of money it takes to make AAA games on the consoles it has basically forced the consoles to re-release games over and over in successive generations to fill out their game library. With Nintendo being a handheld it is a lower graphics fidelity so it simply takes less work to do all the graphics, and most Nintendo first party games don't use a realistic art style which also makes the graphics take much less work, which results in games that cost a lot less to make. So Nintendo doesn't have to release the same games two or three generations in a row to give people something to play in the series.

Plus, I think we can all assume next gen will be backwards compatible cuz it'd be insane if it isn't since Nintendo's primary goal is to get people to upgrade from Switch to Switch 2. So they literally don't need to re-release any Switch games on Switch 2, people can just still buy the Switch games and play them next gen.

People seems to just assume Nintendo is going to adopt this strategy that the other companies do, but they simply don't need to. Also people somehow forget that the WiiU sold 13 million systems and that is the sole reason why the Switch has gotten a bunch of WiiU games: because nobody freaking played them on the WiiU. WiiU was a lost generation and so it was a no brainer to give those games a second shot at life on the Switch. This is obviously not the case with Switch games going into next generation.

Of course Nintendo will occasionally re-release fan favorite older games or games from big series like Mario and Zelda, but for Mario and Zelda the only games not re-released on Switch, and therefore already playable for next gen owners, are SMG2, WW, and TP. I expect we'll see those games re-released next gen if they don't make it out on Switch next year. But there is no reason for any Switch game to get a re-release on Switch 2 because they are already playable on Switch 2 (assuming bc) and they already sold to many millions of players on the Switch.

There are simply sooo many reasons why we won't be seeing Switch games get re-released next gen.

It would be very surprising if we saw a single Switch game get a re-release on Switch 2. I don't understand why people assume the opposite. It simply isn't going to happen. And certainly not for Wonder which will still be a a fairly new game when next gen starts and also is 2D so you can't even really make much of the remaster the graphcs argument.

You could've actually think first. PS5 is BC compatible with the PS4, making quite easy to upgrade from one to another.

The Switch is not BC with previous Nintendo system and uses a different architecture.

+ it's previous system being a failure with many games that undersold were most likely barely played by most of the Switch username.

So it makes sense from a buisness perspective to port or redux in some cases these games to a mostly new userbase.

Also, what are the first party Wii games ported to Switch sold at full price @Pinkie_pie ? This was common for the WiiU due to previous point but I'm not knowledgeable of any Wii not fully remade brought to the Switch.

thats a good point, i should always try thinking. i think one roadblock in my ability to think is my visceral disdain for the practice of porting games from the previous system to the new system. whats worse is when everyone acts like its a big deal or uses it to pad lists of games that came out for their favorite current gen system.

i dont value the justification that since the wii u flopped, it is therefore ok to port games from that system to a new system. even if we were to go with that, its not like nobody played those games, a lot of them sold quite well on wii u.

also, the original point i was making about all this was in 2014 when they were doing this with ps3 games. i didnt like it when they were doing it and i dont like it when nintendo does it. at least wait 15 years until the game can get a proper remaster, at the very least. even in these cases, nintendo has severely underdelivered. metroid prime remaster should have been 3 games, mario all stars was literally the original games copied and pasted on a switch cartridge. this kind of shit is unacceptable and i hold a company like nintendo to a higher standard than that.

I don’t think Nintendo wants Switch 2 very associated with Switch games either. They need to get a massive install base to make the jump to the next one, they’re going to want to highlight exclusives and not ports/cross gen stuff. It’s entirely different situation that PS and Xbox, and Nintendo has never played the “cross-gen” game the way the other two have anyways (the Wii U porting was a different situation unique to Switch). New system means new games when it comes to Nintendo.

Yeah thats another great point. Focusing on bringing ports of Switch games (that you can already play on Switch 2) to Switch 2 as "new" releases does absolutely nothing to convince anyone to buy the system, and certainly not Switch owners.

Really is no reason Nintendo would do this, really don't get why people assume they will.

Seems like they aren't going to announce launch weekend sales for Wonder.

Good. I don’t expect them to be earth shattering and I don’t want to deal with anyone saying that “proves” this won’t happen lol. Wonder will be a sales monster over the Black Friday to Xmas stretch.
