Forums - Gaming - In the last few years I have mostly been playing the same few games

I always try to play games to conclusion, and since I have less time nowadays and games keep getting longer and longer, I play fewer games while my backlog keeps growing. At least if worst comes to worst (no more consoles, subscription cloud gaming shit takes over) I'm still set with games for the rest of my life lol.

I did play quite a few different games this year thanks to PSVR2, yet currently Zelda is holding me hostage for likely another 2-3 months :/

I usually have 4 - 5 games in rotation, with a single player game being the major focus, and an indie or two in the mix. When I beat it, I'll do some of the side content and then move on to the next one, but depending on how much I enjoyed it, I might keep it installed for the next couple of months.

With that said, Civilization 6 is the only game I've been playing consistently over the past couple of years.

I played 10 new JRPGs last year. I am hoping to get to 10 this year, but there haven't been too many JRPG releases, probably because JRPG devs don't want to launch near FFXVI.

I guess what I am trying to say is, play more JRPGS!

Play what you want, and I hope you enjoy it.
A lot of players only play a few games here and there, at least for a significant time. A lot of those players enjoy games like Minecraft, Madden NFL, FIFA, COD, and mobile games.
Since I got a PS4 years ago, I play over 100 games a year between PlayStation and Nintendo.

- TLoU Survivors (4 on 4 multiplayer)

- Thief I&II fan missions, they are still being actively made btw

- Trials Fusion and Rising user made tracks

Less regularly I play:

- Dirt Rally 1 and 2 daily events

- GTAV Online racing

It is rare that I play something else and to completion. Sometimes I get an urge to replay some game but more often than not I play it just a bit or for a few hours and then lose interest.

I watch Let's plays of games that I never played more often than I play them myself.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that modern gaming sucks ( Í¡° ͜ʖ Í¡°)

I don't think that I've played any of the games you listed.

I feel where you're coming from it's difficult to get into a new game and learn the mechanics so you just stick to games that you already know and love, cause most game take some time to get into and some people don't have patience for that.

Gaming doesn't suck, some gamers do though :p

But seriously, I think gamers in general tend to come to a point of crisis where they have to kind of rediscover why they like gaming and what kind of games they actually like. Sometimes adult life takes over and there simply is no more time to really get into something on a deeper level.

Just recently I was watching a Let's play of someone who had gone through a transition in their gaming habits. They used to like straight up action and didn't want to really think about anything, just wreck stuff. Now, they had matured a bit and had discovered a world of story-driven stuff and had realized that it was totally their thing now. Just an example, not saying everybody has the same path.

Also, as you get older, there is actually a thing called new game anxiety. You worry if you will learn all the mechanics and if you can really get a grip on the new game at all. Scary stuff.
