Forums - Nintendo - Batman: Arkham Trilogy Switch - only 1 game on cartridge, 2 are digital

Arkham Knight is no more demanding than games like Witcher 3 or Dying Light that play well on Switch.

As with any demanding port, it's possible it might be a mess, (just look at the PC version) but its also entirely possible it'll turn out fine. Obviously it won't be as pretty as the PS4 version, but you can't take that version on the bus.

I just dont trust WB to make the effort. This seems more of a cash grab than anything else. They should have just waited for Switch 2, but that might not have 120M+ units sold.

There is that. Dying Light and Mortal Kombat 11 were good ports on Switch from WB Games though. The studio handling this conversion is Turn Me Up, who did solid work on the Switch versions of It Takes Two, the Borderlands Collection, and Tony Hawk 1 + 2 remake.

Could go either way to be honest.

Sigh*

Welp, this kind of practice ... We've seen it done since a good number of years now. Never did it pleased us like it does now lol.
Of course they wanted to cheap out on the cartridge used but oh boy !

I imagine the reason this is coming so late is because Warner is short on cash and needs anything to cover their recent losses. Otherwise, they wouldn't have even bothered.

I dont see how any of that makes sense especially since I cant see this selling well due to the fact that these games have been re-released multiple times and the fact that the Switch version will likely play really bad in comparison to the other versions.

I feel like this is gonna be the Mass Effect 3 WiiU of the Switch lol.

The porting job for this is probably quite cheap. Plus they are saving on cartridges. This won't do a lot of money, but it will be something.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Even if batman arkham knight is not great port, the other 2 are amazing games and differently worth it if you game on the go.

I want to be petty and say this is the Monkey's Paw effect of people complaining about not releasing Metroid Trilogy instead of Metroid Remastered, but that would be a stretch. I will say I much prefer the possibility of having 3 quality remasters in 3 seperate releases at the Metroid Remastered price; in this case releasing the 3 games seperately and cheaper for people who just want the physical copy of Arkham Knight's impossible port.

Bayonetta somewhat got the best of both worlds, originally packed as a download code with Bayonetta 2 but at least it didn't require you to have the Bayonetta 2 cart, and eventually releasing again on cart for cheap.

Obviously there's also a difference between 1st party and 3rd party support, and I doubt Nintendo care enough to reign these publishers in when these games aren't going to be major system sellers. Just having the games on Switch already does the job for Nintendo's market appeal.

I'm surprised that even one full game is on the card.

Nintendo should be ashamed for still giving such third rate publishers advertising space in their Directs.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.

well saved some money i guess

stupid decisions these 3rd party devs make
