Forums - Gaming Discussion - PlayStation Fans Refuse To Throw Away Box Even After Sony Tells Them To

JuliusHackebeil said:

That hit too close to home. I always keep the boxes. And I really have no explanation why. I even sent my ps5 in to be repaired. Brought it to the store, within the original box of course, and they asked me to put it out and give them just the console without box. I felt as hollow as my precious cardboard.

Great.

For me, for a console that gives me a great experience, the box also means much to me.

I keep my console boxes though I should get rid of them lol

Well - in the old days the scam was that you couldn't return items for warranty without the packaging, so everyone kept the boxes at least a year or two.

Obviously if you want to do resell/collect, you'll want to have the boxes too. In any case, if you don't use the original box, you have to buy a box to store it/move it!

Used consoles sell better if they are in the original box. If you have space to store them, there's no reason to throw them away.

Perhaps it might be the same thing when people keep their game boxes instead of throwing it away and just keeping the discs/carts. I sure don't throw away any game boxes nowadays, but in the 90s it was common in my house. For game consoles, I still have the boxes for the Wii U, 3DS, Switch, NES Classic mini, SNES classic mini, and Sega Mega Drive mini.

I used to keep boxes, until my wife said it was either they leave the place or I would...

I still have this bad boy, and pretty much every console box I ever got.

I tend to resell my electronics when I'm done with them, having the original boxes makes that much easier. I kept my N64's box for over 25 years, SNES, Genesis, 3D0, TG-16, PS1, PS3, PS4, OG xbox, Game Cube, Wii, name it, I had it with the box.

Don't build houses with old cardboard, this not the solution you are looking for.
