Kind of hoped we'd get Thrud or Freya as a lead for the GoW spinoff.

But still lots of potential ways to explore the story with Faye. Perhaps this will be a prequel to GoW 2018? I know there was a comic about it, but it seems like the wider GoW audience is not familiar with that time period. It's going to be interesting to see how they tie in these other pantheons too.

If the rumors are true, than yes, it is a prequel to 4 (2018).

The comics are about Kratos time in Egypt tho, so even as it's also before the Nordic saga, it is not the focus of this new game, even as I do hope it is included in this game as well. Kratos meeting Faye definitely needs to happen in this game and he telling her about his time in Egypt could be the way to adapt some of it to the game.

Seeing as the new Metro is 30m away from being announced with a rumoured this year release date I think a PSA is in order: Metro Saga Bundle is £5 on PSN (all 3 games + DLC). That’s a crazy good price for the content.

The lastest article about Shuhei Yoshida its pretty interesting. Apparently Jim Ryan removed him from SIE presidency because refused to do something "ridiculous".

Was it to move studios to the live service push?
Was it to shut down Japan Studios?
Was it something else?

Either way, Shu has my respect. Already did, but has even more of it now.

Idk, when he leaved he said something similar, then "clarified" saying that Ryan treated him with respect and now this. So then what's the truth? Why not tell the complete story the first time or idk right now? Is he going to tell a new part of the story every 6 months?

I have no doubt that Ryan is an ass and I'm grateful for what Yoshida did but this is starting to feel like Layden saying the same bullshit 3 times per year so people remember he is still alive (how services aren't the way to go when The Show and GT became services under his leadership, how big games are unsustainable when the first wave of truly expensive PS games happened under him and how consoles aren't selling when he knows selling a console is just the beginning, how much people spend in the console is what matters).

I like Yoshida, but without context the highlighting of 'ridiculous' means next-to-nothing. This is especially true when you consider that Ryan also offered Yoshida the position to help with indies, which was a passion of Yoshida's. The headline makes it sound like there's some bad blood between the 2 when really it's just more that whatever Ryan wanted (or his bosses wanted) was far too much of an undertaking for Yoshida, for whatever reason that may have been.

It's probably overly easy to blame Jim Ryan for everything. (I mean in the sense that other execs could have made similar bad decisions.)

But I do feel like Sony has been much more driven by the financials this generation.

Not that Layden and Shuhei are perfect, but they both seem to have a genuine passion for games. Jim Ryan has always seemed proud of what PlayStation has done, but I've never gotten the impression that he has the same level of passion for the games themselves. I couldn't see him trying to sneak into a Nintendo conference, because he was excited to see what Nintendo was making. And it does feel like a safe place to put a lot of the blame on him. And it's similarly felt concerning that Sony Group put their CFO in charge of SIE.

And it doesn't feel surprising that it feels like Sony under Jim Ryan has done away with a lot of the good will that they've built the last 2 generations.
