Forums - Sony - PlayStation Nation |OT| Playing Astro Bot on the Horizon Until Dawn

The fans shouldn't be blamed at all. Bungie leadership deserves all of it. Countless times over the years, Bungie devs begged leadership for specific changes to happen, and it was always put down. Even up to the recent cancellations! Leadership had already decided to cancel all future content months ago, yet teams were still working on it. Some departments that were already in the know asked leadership to inform the entire company so as not to splinter, yet they refused.

Leadership knew by 2021 when the end of the story arc for Destiny 2 would happen. New story arcs were brought up, new major expansions that would properly follow up the Light & Dark Saga were brought up, everything was shot down. A former Bungie dev posted about a pitched dedicated expansion to Xivu Arath, the Hive God of War as a follow up to the The Taken King and The Witch Queen expansions to complete the trilogy of expansions dedicated to those siblings. Shot down.

Another dev posted that "Pete Parsons was the real Destiny killer"

Bungie leadership had years to get something else going, but chose not to. They deserve ALL the blame for how Destiny has ended. For all the highs the franchise has had over the years, it has rarely met its full potential due to poor decision-making.

As dramatic as the Destiny community is being right now, it's fully deserved.

Some awesome stuff coming to Marathon! Now that Bungie's entire focus is on Marathon, it'll be interesting to see what more they can add to the game. Extraction Shooter can only be taken so far, so I wonder if they'll start to expand to different modes within the game to broaden the audience.

Probably a broken record as many people have said it but I love the art direction but have no major interest in multiplayer PvP stuff... Would love a stand alone Halo Reach scope campaign that really fleshes out the world that can exist as a stand alone game. Discounted price for people who already own it Marathon but like a $40 title for people who don't. They could repackage the whole thing as a $70 Re-release alongside some new MP content too.

I think it's important Bungie work on a single player/lower budget product they can release in the next 2-3 years.

Most random YouTube post and channel I've seen lol. Jason pointing out that his then girlfriend asked him, "Why do you play that game? All you do is complain about it" is painfully accurate Like I said before, Destiny never truly lived up to its potential, yet Bungie nailed so much about the game that you just couldn't stop playing.

Also, if Jason is posting this kind of video, I have to imagine he knows that the IP is getting put on ice.

He doubles down that Bungie will soon go through "pretty significant" layoffs.

I suspect the plan is to fully build out PVE content for Marathon, now that Destiny has been cancelled. Initially there idea seemed to be to target a very different player base from Destiny and focusing on PVP only. Their reevaluation was probably that they need to consolidate their Destiny playerbase into Marathon.

PS plus prices increasing for 1 and 3 month plans (no word for the yearly plan yet).

Sony can't stop fucking gamers.

This is what people look like when they say shit like this. It's not just sony fucking people over, it's EVERYONE. it's not just Nintendo, it's EVERYONE. IT's not just Microsoft, it's EVERYONE! The whole goddamn global economy is raising prices at a disgusting rate, and yet people seem to still like acting like their company is the one specifically targetting them and it's such a silly, weird, nonsensical take.

That'd be like specifically attacking your realtor because real estate prices are high, it's not specifically their fault, it's the market (Both the companies and consumers who allow it). Pointing fingers specifically at Sony (or Microsoft or Nintendo) is just dumb. Over the last couple years it seems every few months one of the three main companies does something stupid and anti-consumer and it's a torrential wave of 'this company in particular sucks' and never 'oh this is a visible trend across the whole market' and it's just bonkers to see how many people don't have pattern-seeking minds.

One of the things that were reported was how the Marathon team asked for the game to have more PVE but was ignored by the then heads of the company, now  the game director made a post last week about how they are working in more PVE and PVP-lite content so yeah, it's going to happen. The advantage is that Marathon doesn't need to be Destiny, it just needs to offer options thus is going to be way cheaper than the volume of content Destiny used to need.

The new runner shell is so freaking pretty. I need those remakes of the original trilogy with this assets.

Bungie summarized in one sentence lol

i would happily grind Marathon if it had a bigger PvE focus. Game is fantastic, but I can only handle so much of the tension building sweatfest lol. Makes the seasonal resets more upsetting to accept.

I think I missed your initial reply to me, don't remember seeing it until now.

Where did I ever say Sony is the only one doing it?

You can expect to see me sad/mad at Sony every time I think they are fucking people over, on that I can guarantee you, tho.

What an out of place reply, specially with the added last paragraph now, but on that I would chime in: seek the pattern of being the consumer side of the equation, that's what I'm, that's what I do.

My personal takes over the AI situation screwing over the industry are all over this site, my personal takes on pretty much everything Sony does, good or bad, is also all over this very thread.

Seems like lots of patterns where missed by the brain.
