AstroBot (the character) needs to leave his own game and be utilised in a new series where he's a distinct character among a diverse cast of different species.

It's not good that Astro has less personality than the little cosplaying bots he saves. He's cute and all, but he doesn't stand out in his own game. All bots are each other's copies. It's like Sackboy but worse (never played LBP, but I watched some videos).

If they don't want to abandon the IP، then maybe have the main character entering a new dimension where he meets and works with new characters/species that look, behave, and function differently, in a more organic world.

I don't think Astro himself needs personality beyond being cute and fun to play but I agree, they need to start some sort of world building, memorable enemies, characters and carve an identity beyond paying homage to other games.

Astro as an IP is intrinsically tied to PS as hardware, and now as software, too. I don't believe that dissappears from it's DNA, but I also don't think that Astro Bot is indicative of what the IP will always be.

The world of Astro began with just Playroom, and it expanded with Playroom VR and Rescue mission. All of these expanded the world, enemy and boss types. The stronger homages are really only recent from the free title and Astro Bot itself.

I think the best way for Astro to grow is to explore other genre types while still keeping it's mainline 3D platformer going. But that would involve having other teams being able to play with the IP. But I'm not so worried about it: the game seems in safe hands.

Playstation Portal is finally getting cloud streaming.

I do hope with have a gen 2 with direct streaming function with PS6 instead of internet connect. The full fledged PS5/PS6 portable is likely going to be a minimum $599, so we for sure need a cheap alt for everyone who is going to prioritise the home console but still wants to enjoy portability

Yesterday with the discovery of the cross-buy icon my first idea was ok they are going to launch a PC store/launcher to offer a similar option to xbox's play anywhere but not only that, with the rumors of the Portal getting full cloud support for your owned games this launcher could also be used to offer their cloud service.
The rumors about the Portal were confirmed today so I think if they actually offer ps-pc crossbuy their main focus behind it is going to be cloud, maybe even offering what PS Now used to offer on pc.

Can't wait for pc players to complain about the existence of another launcher/store they don't need to use lol.

No one will complain if the games stay and continue to be released on Steam/EGS, while Sony provides incentives for PC players to switch to the new launcher. If you're able to carve out your own niche, like GOG does, no one complains. But if you forcibly integrate your own launcher into another launcher like Steam/EGS, where you have to be signed in and the other launcher needs to be running simultaneously with Steam while you're gaming, that's where you'll get complaints. It uses more hardware resources running multiple launchers at once, and has historically caused a lot of needless technical issues since it's also a multiple layered mandatory DRM.

Crossbuy would be an excellent incentive since Steam/EGS releases would continue to be standalone purchases, but PS+ cloud streaming exclusively through this theoretical launcher would also be a great incentive. I would switch to this launcher only for PS Studios games.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Crossbuy is always good, so cool if it happens.

of course they are going to complain, that's the only thing they know how to do LOL.

It was a joke about the many times they have complained about Sony for things that they don't even need to use btw.

This would be good news, but what about cross buy between cross gen? PS4 and PS5?

PS4 and PS5 may be part of the same overall SNY PS ecosystem, but they are different platforms. Not as different as console vs PC, but still different.
More work needs to go into porting PS5 titles to get them on PC, just like more work goes into upgrading PS4 titles to bring them up to PS5 standards.
So I don't see why this cross buy should only apply to PC and not PS4. Why hafta pay more to upgrade from a PS4 to PS5 title, if PS5 to PC is free?

PS1   - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.

PS2  - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.

PS3   - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.

PS4   - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.

PRO  -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.

PS5   - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.

PRO  -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.

So apparently Sony is working with an english studio for the development of a new service, this based in a job opening for a "third party game producer" based in London. According to the job description Sony will be involved all the way in the project, from development to content post release.

The english studio that comes to my mind is Sumo Digital, they have made services in the past and also have a working relationship with Sony. People Can Fly is polish so I don't think this is about their project.

Stellar Entertainment the studio formed by ex-Criterion devs that supposedly are making "the new Motorstorm" are also english. I'm still cautious about that rumor (it would be cool tho) but the studio actually has recent history with Sony, they supported the Horizon Remastered development so maybe there's something there.

There is no growth to be had on PS4 anymore, they plan to grow on PC and adding value to both PS5 and PC sounds a lot better to invest on than on PS4.

When the PS6 releases Sony will really not want to even keep giving support to the PS4 and we'll likely see the store starting to be left away and becoming a buggy mess like it was with the PSP, PS3 and PSV eventually. I don't think they want add something that might affect the PS5 as their legacy supported console.

They will care where profit is to be made, when the PS4 becomes pretty much just a cost with hardly any profit, it becomes a burden, and they can't care less about people there. PS4 games run on PS5, so if you have those you can keep playing it moving on to the PS5.

PS5 to PS6 crossbuy might be a thing, going backwards to add it to the PS4 post 2025? Not happening.

Bruh... this joins Chrono Cross's Another Arni and FF1's Town Theme to make my "holy chill town trinity".

Falcom's music deserves so much more attention. This sountrack is pretty much Yasunori Mitsuda level to me, and it's the only one that sounds better in the "Arranged" style. The violin gets me everytime man.

And as much as I was disappointed by Ys 8, it also had some amazing music. My favorite being this:

So good T_T
