Ideally, this is what MS should do if they were serious, but well.. we know they aren't sadly. :/

Or even just create a new IP with one of their western studios that caters to a Japanese audience. Just look at Ghost of Tsushima. Made by an American Studio but was very popular in Japan. The 4th most popular ps4 game in Japan from a western developer beaten only by GTAV, Minecraft and Blackops 4. Catering to a Japanese audience also doesn't necessarily hurt sales elsewhere, again using ghosts as an example it sold over 10m worldwide.

For sure that would help.

I also think setting a Forza Horizon game in Japan should be a no-brainer for them, the Forza Horizon series is already Xbox's most successful series in Japan, Forza Horizon 5 is currently at #5 on Xbox Most Played Games list for Japan more than a year after release afterall. But I can guarantee that if they set the next Horizon game in Japan, got some licensed Japanese music for some of the in-game radio stations and alot of good Japanese car licenses, it would be more successful there than the previous Horizon games were and move some Xbox units in Japan especially with a bundle. Alot of the western Forza fans want a Japan setting too. It's truly a no-brainer for the next Horizon setting.

There is now a chance of it with the CMA changing their tune on the acquisition. There is a solid chance that the acquisition closes weeks before Diablo 4's June release, Xbox should have enough time to ensure it is day one Gamepass.

I mean I pre-ordered it (and even the collector box) so for me it would be a buy no matter what as I want the deluxe edition but this would be neat :)
I doubt it tho looking at Bethesda. Took them a while before to bring those title to GamePass. It would also be not very smart from MS to lose all that money; I would expect this to be on GamePass maybe 3 to 6 months after.

But let's cross our fingers :)

Wait...Did you actually think it was satire? My bad, Lol.

No, I mean.. I don't.. I was just.. elaborating why I sarcastically called the post satire? I don't know anymore..

But I'm very close to banning you both with your own banhammers now!

Are you the guy who "hacked" into the admin accounts and posted the black dick pics?

I wouldn't count on it. Shit could still drag on a bit with the FTC, and even if it managed to close just in time, MS and Activision wouldn't mind dragging their feet just a touch, to get all the money they can out of Diablo day one, before they go ahead and stick it in GP.

I personally look for the FTC to crumple like a piece of paper now that they no longer have the CMA and EC to back them up, they are the last man standing pretty much and don't have the kind of power that the CMA had, their only tool is suing in court when Judges have already sided with Microsoft once in the class action gamer lawsuit against the ABK deal and legal analysts say they will lose in court, they may try and save face just like the CMA did, and say that their earlier opposition was based on inaccurate data.

As for Microsoft, they may decide that the increased Gamepass subs from a day one Diablo 4 release (likely well over a million new Gamepass subs) are worth more to them in the long run than the day one $70 sales, if they think they can keep most of those new Gamepass subs subbed for months or years to come, for instance by offering free Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 cosmetics on the monthly gamepass perks to keep Blizzard fans subbed. Guess we'll have to wait and see what they decide.

I'm not sure I'm convinced that the FTC particularly care what the CMA or EC decide on the matter. I mean, they would have loved it there was agreement with their position, of course, but all their behavior in recent times proves that they're not exactly shying away from losing battles. Another L to them might very well be worth it as long as it means they're dragging things out, and being a general pain in the ass to the bitter end.

And yea, sure, the Diablo situation could maybe play out that way, but I think if the deal did close in time, it would do so in such a short time frame before the game's release, that there really wouldn't be enough time to properly market the game going into GP day one anyway, and then how many subs are you really gaining from it? More likely that a smaller subset of hardcore gamers that are already subbed, cancel their pre-orders, and then nothing is gained. The broader audience, that you'd want to nudge more toward GP wouldn't likely be influenced with such a last second change. At least that's how I see it.
