Gears Eday RIPS!!! It's so damn good and plays like a dream.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Just started Act 4 of E-Day. What a game man and such an incredible technical showcase! Wouldn't say the story goes as deep as Gears 2 and 3, but it's right behind them. Pitch perfect gameplay, Versus is very well balanced with some classic feeling maps. Demolition is a great new Versus mode, but Horde Siege steals the show!!! By far the best addition to the Gears franchise in a long time!

I wanna know how this become such an issue when Xbox used to be such an easy platform to publish on during the 360 era lol, but glad to see these kinds of issues finally getting addressed.

I feel like the issues were to do with Microsoft overreaching. Just a guess.

Playing the campaign in local online-coop with my wife (like all Gears of War games before) on our Series X's, having a blast so far (Act 2, chapter 4).

Movement feels better than ever (a lot more maneuverable but still proper heft to the character) and all the weapons are a lot of fun, old and new. Great setting and beautiful graphics. Overall I would still say it is "just" more Gears in the 2026 version, but that is all I wanted from it, so no complaints here.

On the flipside I am also still experiencing quite some good old Gears jank (enemies getting stuck in mid air or sprinting endlessly into a wall for no reason; sound and controller feedback from the gun turret continuing after I have exited it; my character not going into cover even though I know I pressed the damn button etc.), seems they never get rid of that.

I actually don't mind the app now that I'm used to it.

I understand people's gripes about it though for sure.

Did you hear about Alinea Analytics' sales estimate?

https://alineaanalytics.substack.com/p/gears-of-war-e-day-sells-230k-copies

Despite the excellent critical reception, the game isn't selling well. If you're a Gears fan, please buy a copy!! The series future is on the line.
