...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

There you go changing the goalposts again Nioh being a new IP is irrelevant, it's a game set in Japan which uses a white Irish protagonist. This white Irish protagonist though is a real person who went to Japan, just like Yasuke. There's debate whether Yasuke was an actual samurai or not but AC has NEVER been strictly a historical documentary, the vast majority of AC is made-up nonsense, it has multiple times changed the historical accuracy of real life people. If you're upset about this then you should be upset about Nioh, they're both fictional games but the problem is that AC is using a black guy in Japan? Tell me when in history Queen Elizabeth worked with the Assassin Brotherhood to take down the Templar Order. I'm not trying hard with the native point, it's quite easy, you asked if all AC titles have revolved around characters native to the country they are set in, I answered that, no, they haven't all been that. Edward is a pirate, I know that, I also said that it makes sense for Edward to be in Black Flag, that doesn't change the fact that Edward is not a native of the Caribbean, a question which you asked. I'm aware Valhalla starts off in Norway, and the majority of the game takes place in England, I'm not upset by that. As for Revelations, Ezio is Italian and Altair was born in Syria, Constantinople was in Turkey. |
During Altair's life time, Constantinople was part of the Byzantine Empire. When Altair was born, some regions of modern day Syria were also part of Byzantine Empire so he actually might have that nationality.

Damn, Ubisoft really stepped in it with this one. I didn't realize the controversy was this big, when I watched the trailers yesterday the like/dislike ratios on them were like 97% positive, the dislikes must have came later. The Ubisoft Japan channel ratio is particularly bad. I can't imagine JP gamers are that mad about Yasuke like people in the west are, Yasuke is a fairly common figure in manga and anime and was featured in 3 recent Koei Tecmo games, Nioh, Nioh 2, and Samurai Warriors 5, all 3 of which JP gamers loved, and in the Nioh games he was portrayed as a full-blown samurai just like Ubisoft is portraying him.
I'm sure some of the dislikes aren't because of the Yasuke controversy of course, but because of other reasons like announcing multiple expensive editions and preorders without showing gameplay, as well as Ubisoft's recent comments about game ownership, and the general declining quality in their games over the last generation.
As the resident Ubislop hater all I gotta say is ……………………………………………………………… ……………………………………………………………… looks alright actually.
