Xbox Is Having its Best Stretch of Game Releases Since Fall 2007 - IGN

I hope Ryan can look back at his comments earlier in the year and learn to not be so hyperbolic next time...

Anyway! Missing the ABK closure too

I had the opposite reaction with Cyberpunk today, haha, well, Cyberpunk does some things better but Starfield does some things better too.

I was planning on doing Phantom Liberty but just couldn't get back into it today, I was just thinking about playing Cocoon and 100% Starfield, I might just 100% base game Cyberpunk and skip Phantom Liberty. Played for a few hours today just killing people and I don't really feel the massive changes that people are talking about, the gameplay is great but it was always great and they deepened the RPG systems.

But the world is still oddly lifeless feeling, I can't put my finger on it, it's nice to look at but I still think the AI is lifeless as hell, only 10 minutes into my play session did a car accident happen and the bystanders started running...for like 3 seconds and then stopped inches away from the sight of the accident, literally in the middle of the road, I just laughed, still see the same weird ass kids who look 50 walking on their own as well, Lol.

I bought a nice house, can't really do much else with it though and went on a rampage, Lol. I think more than anything I'm just ready for Cyberpunk 2 (by ready I don't mean I expect it anytime soon but I'm happy to move on from Cyberpunk). Think I just want to move onto something new. Going to start Cocoon tomorrow.

That's 3 more seconds than they'd run in Starfield, so if that's what makes it lifeless for you, I'm not sure I'm understanding the comparison

I went into Starfield to test this as I haven't been a bad dude in Starfield. You're right they don't react to just shooting the gun near them, I can't replicate a car crash but the actions that led up to the car crash was a fight which resulted in someone dead, so I shot someone in Starfield and you're wrong, literally the entire nearby crowd ran away in all different directions.

I think you miss my point a little with Cyberpunk though, everyone is talking about these huge updates but less than 10 minutes in and I see that the NPC AI is still the same which wasn't very good at launch, it made me laugh but they literally stopped in the middle of the road, inches away from the car crash site, and stared at me, Lol.

I wasn't even really making a direct comparison to Starfield here, Lol. I was just making a point about the update and my feelings on it.

I'm not saying that is the only reason the NPCs and World feels lifeless, I even said that I can't put my finger on it exactly but if we're going to talk about Starfield then Imo Starfield's world feels way more "alive" and "lived in" than Cyberpunk's still, there's something about Cyberpunk's NPCs that still feel dead, they feel like a game. If Neon was the same size as Night City then I would have significantly preferred that as a Cyberpunk city.

Nighty City to me still feels like a GTA mod of someone's version of Cyberpunk. I've got to agree with Grubb that there's still barely any reactivity in the world whatsoever. The world feels shallow and static and I struggle exactly to put my finger on why but that hasn't changed, it is not just one singular reason though.

Still, I enjoyed Cyberpunk a lot overall but I'm not really that interested in PL, starting it up yesterday just made me realise that I'm just ready for a Cyberpunk 2 which either continues the story or starts a new one, with a fully revamped city or a new one and new NPC AI to make the world feel fully alive. The revamped systems in 2.0 are good so no need to change that up.

Because 2.0 didn’t update the NPC AI lol. 2.0 changed; (from what I’ve seen)

- Overhauled entire skill tree/perk structure, making builds deeper and more precise. Perks are far more significant now.

- Overhauled the entire cyberware system now giving you a limit (you can exceed this with a perk that raises the chances of a cyberpsycho type state called fury). All cyberware can be upgraded from tier 1 to tier 5++ and there’s a lot more in the game now.

- Crafting is no longer perk dependent.

- Overhauled driving mechanics, cars feel much more weighted. Also ability to buy cars straight from the web and removed the fixer progression requirement for cars.

- 3 new radio channels.

- Car combat overhaul + police system. Maxtac fucking wreck.

My criticism even back then was that I didn't really like the world so it stands to reason it would remain the same if the NPC AI hasn't been updated. That's a shame because the NPC AI was by far one of the worst things and helped contribute to this feeling but updating AI for a game post-launch is hard. I forgot to mention about the car crash that one of the cars were flipped and someone was just chilling inside of it upside down, another car was waiting behind with the driver still in the seat, Lmao. Cops are still dumb as hell too, I'm not seeing the overhaul there.

Those updates are either, they're updates to things I didn't have an issue with or they're nice updates but not enough to convince me to replay the entire game or start Phantom Liberty. The gunplay still feels the same but the gunplay was never an issue and I always enjoyed it. I didn't have any issue with the original skill tree either so a revamp is nice but not a huge upgrade to me, at least from what I've looked at anyway. Extra cyber-ware is cool but the same as the above, not enough to draw me back in. Don't care about crafting at all, Lol. Just realised I didn't even craft in 1.0.

As for cars, I barely drive, I either just run to the destination if it's close enough or fast travel if it's far away, I tested two cars, one was awful and extremely sensitive to turning, the bike felt good though. I never minded some cars being requirement gated and looking at the web, some still are, that's fine by me. Honestly, I don't care for car combat in any game, it's why Contraband interests me so little, it's fun for 5 seconds to blow shit up but quickly passes, I never actively seek it out, I always prefer on foot combat, I just don't really like fighting in a car, in any game, Lol.

Also, I bought a house but felt it was a waste of money. Still a lack of customisation options on homes, vehicles.

I'm not saying it's bad, now without all the bugs I'd give it about a 86-88 but as I keep saying, I'm just ready for Cyberpunk 2 now, I think this is the bigger deal than my criticisms, I just don't want to replay the game, I don't really have any interest in the story of Phantom Liberty (nor any interest in the new ending it adds) and since I've done everything in my Night City already before 2.0, there is nothing left for me to do except run around killing enemies. So I'm probably just going to 100% base game and move on.

I just want Cyberpunk 2, I'm ready for them to move on, learn from all their mistakes, create a new world, a new story.

What exactly is more alive, or reactive about Neon than Night City in Cyberpunk? Benjamin Bayou literally doesn't even recognize you across all the different times you run into him in various quests. He treats you like a new person each time...and that's a major character you interact with. Weighing in on the gang conflict by taking a side has no noticeable impact on the city either. The place is every bit the static setting that Night City is.
