Well, I languished over my ranking as usual, but finally submitted my list.

Hint time!

#50 - The hero of this game would fit right in with Namflow and Nietsneknarf.

#49 - In this shoot-'em-up you can actually capture each stage's mini-boss and get it to fight on your side.

#48 - Going by its prequel and sequel, you'd link this game's subtitle would be Cyrodiil.

#47 - Speaking of subtitles, I can't think of a better one for this game, considering the feeling you experience when hunted by killer robots.

#46 - If you mentioned this game to someone born after 2000, they'd probably think of the wrong sequel, which was a timed Xbox One/Xbox 360 exclusive.

#50 - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (guessed by UnderwaterFunktown)
#49 - Darius Gaiden (unguessed)
#48 - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (guessed by S.Peelman)
#47 - Metroid Dread (guessed by drbunnig)
#46 - Tomb Raider II (guessed by TruckOSaurus)

More hints!

#45 - This game and its predecessor were released as a collection on Switch this year, immediately becoming the third ranked game all time on the system, according to Metacritic.

#44 - The fourth iteration of a landmark fighter, this game enjoyed home ports with additional modes.

#43 - Because of this game, I always walk into the waterfall.

#42 - This game's story mode arguably elevates Kirby above all other Nintendo heroes.

#41 - This action-adventure finally got its spiritual sequel in 2016, about 5 years late.

-The destination doesn't really matter in the end

-Although it doesn't matter, it's very clear from the start what it is

Journey.

Correct.

YoY: -7    My Rating: 9.0/10

To say the seventh console generation was a bit short on great home console JRPGs would be putting it lightly. While there were the occasional gem to be found (Resonance of Fate, Lost Odyssey), with Final Fantasy going through a bit of a slump, and several other prominent series either going mostly handheld, available only on a system I just didn't have, or in some cases even skipping the whole generation, for a long while it was hard to find more than a couple decent titles a year, if that. It was likely because of this that Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch felt like such a breath of fresh air at the time. An old-school JRPG with a good story and characters, great music, and a gorgeous visual style was something I didn't even realize how much I had wanted until it finally came out in 2013 in the west.

Wrath of the White Witch is also a game that I haven't actually played in almost a decade now, and I really need to go back and replay it at some point, if for nothing else, then just to see how well it holds up today. I remember absolutely loving it at the time, but part of that may have been simply because there weren't all that many games in its genre around on the PS3 at the time. Regardless, it is an excellent game, that much I'm certain of, but distance has a tendency to elevate the great points and hide the weaknesses, so who knows if it make my list after a replay. We'll just have to see when I do have the time to go back to it some day.

45) Portal 2. And with that in the collection I can't blame them for those scores.

42) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? :D

Correct on both counts!

I'm not sure too many of you know this next one, so I'll post it early. That said, whether you know it or not, it should be enjoyable for everyone. It's a beautiful song.

Ah yes, this is Death's Door

Switch: SW-3707-5131-3911
XBox: Kenjabish

So Veknoid had made yet another correct guess with Metroid Fusion at #39 (does he know me too well?), but #41 and #40 haven't been guessed yet so here's more hints for those. Also adding #38.

41 - There's an easter-egg in a sound clip in this game, where a traffic report comes from something from another, related (but different), game. It usually reports heavy traffic.
Hint 2: The name of it even uses the same three letter prefix as everything else in this series.
Hint 3: You can also fly this helicopter in it's own game, through your creations from this game if you import them.
Hint 4: There's is a disconnect though, because while that game is 3D, my game's buildings are 2D sprites. Which is fine for the game itself. Guessed by Darashiva - SimCity 2000

40 - In a live-action cutscene, your instructor in one level, as you fly one of the enemy's craft, casually refers to your enemies as "Bucketheads".
Hint 2: You'll also have to "follow his lead and do what [he] say".

39 - Contrary to it's more open structured predecessors, this handheld game featured a bit more linear, mission-based progression. Guessed by Veknoid_Outcast - Metroid Fusion

38 - The single-player mode of this game, the base game anyway, features campaigns for five of the six civilisations, though a mini-level of the sixth can be played as an easter-egg in one of the levels of one of the other campaigns after you find it by revealing the map through a cheat-code.

41: Simcity 2000, should have figured it out with the helicopter hint already.

Correct! "SimCopter reports heavy traffic."
