Privacy. Imagine they have a data breach.

Don't concern me. I mean, everything is prone to malfunction. Should I avoid crossing bridges because they have the possibility of falling down and killing me?

Besides, what can possible be done with only a phone number? It's just this, a number

The phone number leads to your identity, and with your identity a lot can be done.

Identity theft is not a joke Jim!

I'm already used to doing it for other sites, so idk not much different for me. If this makes for a better gaming experience, I'm for it.

And pre-paid phones don't work.

Did you try that?

Kotaku made an article about it. SO even if I wanted to play it (I don't) I couldn't. Seems to be a US thing atm.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

They can get your identity only with your phone number? Is this a USA thing? In Brazil I can literally go to any store and buy a prepaid chip for 10 BRL (2 USD), it will come with a number. I can plug it on my phone and unless I contract a specific subscription (which almost nobody does unless they want a combo with internet or something like that) nobody knows about this number

They just need someone to call to during lonely nights.

It's so Bobby Kotick can drunk call you at night when he's feeling alone and frisky

Please Watch/Share this video so it gets shown in Hollywood.

For people who don't know here's how it works:

An attacker needs your email address and phone number (maybe an address, that's sometimes helpful). They call up the cell company and say that the phone has been damaged/lost and they have a new one. They request a number transfer. Occasionally the cell company worker doesn't care and just does this. With a phone number receiving your SMS they reset your email password. The rest is easy - your email inbox will tell them what other things you've signed up for, and they change all of the passwords.

That's why you shouldn't give your phone number to untrustworthy people. Activision-Blizzard being high on my personal list...

That's pretty bad!

Been thinking of cancelling my phone recently. I only use it for internet anyway and I have a mobile wifi router that I usually carry with me so I use that rather than the phone's internet, so why bother paying for the phone? To think I could be unable to play certain games once I do that is pretty ridiculous.
