They can get your identity only with your phone number? Is this a USA thing? In Brazil I can literally go to any store and buy a prepaid chip for 10 BRL (2 USD), it will come with a number. I can plug it on my phone and unless I contract a specific subscription (which almost nobody does unless they want a combo with internet or something like that) nobody knows about this number
