I'll talk with Machina and see what he thinks. I agree it is likely the undertrack is either all with the Xbox One or the vast majority is with the Xbox One. If Xbox One sales all of a sudden go up you will know why. Though we have enough data for most of the world, so the areas we could be undertracked in could potentially be Latin America, OEurope (mainly Eastern Europe), Asia, Oceania, and MEA (Middle-East, Africa).

If there is no source for the numbers (it could just be another tracker or consultant number, PS numbers don't match shipped ones from Sony nor the sold through released near date by Sony for PS5 plus total shipped PSV+PS4 - which would have barely any difference from sold). So I wouldn't change anything so far.

Yeah there was no source provided that I could see. We don't know official PlayStation Vita sales as Sony never revealed lifetime sales for it. So my best guess it is PS5+PS4+PSV shipped figures. Not that it would be a big difference between shipped vs sold even when looking at PS5. PS5+PS4 shipped at the end of 2021 was at 134.1M. That would leave 17.3M for PSV. If that is the case PSV would need adjusting up. But again we don't know for sure.

Exactly. That would put PSVita to much of an adjusment based on we already being close enough by the time of last know numbers.

If MS had gave their numbers as sold with themselves as sources sure I would approve of adjusting it as well, but even their numbers they don't give us any certainty. If we did adjust we wouldn't really know if we would be closer to reality or only closer to one announcement without source.

Okay some news on the MS claim

It was indeed by late 2021, so I was wrong on this indeed.

But the Sony figures are from MS too, not from the official Sony statement, unlike Nintendo, which is very odd, I don't understand the point.

Probably because MS wants to inflate a little PS numbers (like using PSVita) and lowball Xbox. Because if it would truly be just PS4 and 5 that number would be severely wrong.

Those PS numbers for for sure including Vita

That being said, 63.7 consoles for Xbox by end of 2021 is actually impressive to me, given how bad of a console the Xbox One was

I adjusted up our Xbox One estimates. There is still a gap as we don't know for sure if it is sell-through or shipped figures.

I think perception in some camps about One is heavily skewed moreso by memes and meme-ish thinking (over negative PR in and of itself) vs how many games are there, how many sold, the meta scores, the consoles sold, etc.
