VGChartz Methodology: Hardware estimates are based on retail sampling and trends in individual countries, which are then extrapolated to represent the wider region. This typically allows us to produce figures that end up being within 10% of the actual totals.

This data is regularly compared against official shipment figures released by the console manufacturers and figures estimated by regional trackers with greater market coverage than ourselves. We then update our own estimates to bring them into line with those figures. This can result in frequent changes often within a short space of time, but we feel it's important to prioritise accuracy over consistency.

Bold: Is 76 the full number?

Thanks, @Trunk! ?

Very healthy sales for all consoles. Switch sales still being on stampede, PS5 holds its sales above 230k, XS again at 185k.

I really wonder for quite some time now if Sony is stockpiling for Holiday season for the pure sake of availability. And if the higher price tag will show a dump in sales in the next hardware charts?

The other thing I wonder about: with certainty you can tell that the PS5 still sells its weekly stock to the very last console Sony is shipping. But that arguably doesn't count for Microsoft and XS, right? So by the time being, XS could draw higher sales, because Microsoft is more likely to shift some stock from one week to another. But it still doesn't catch the PS5.

I am so interested following if the Gamepass and all acquisitions will actually cause Microsoft to catch up to or even overtake PS5 sales at some point. Sony is holding strong against it for now.

Let's see if Switch can maintain YoY growth from here on out. Software lineup & OLED stock are much stronger this year than last. And this huge JP Splatoon launch bodes well for JP hardware for the next couple weeks. If there wasn't enough stock to exceed 250K in launch week in JP, I think we see a highly elevated JP baseline till at least end of Sep to make up for it.

- Xbox Series is ~4 million from outselling the Master System.
- Playstation 5 is ~1.7 million from outselling the Xbox.
- Switch is ~4.6 million from outselling the Playstation 4.

I can't remember the guy's name, he left a while ago, but he was claiming the Switch isn't going to outsell the ps1 because nobody wants one.... bad take.

There were several people in early 2017 claiming that the Switch would sell below 10mil lifetime because something something Wii U.

Looking like the September-December period will be very hot for the Switch this year despite its age.

True, but this was like 6 months ago.  I remember being astonished because the writing is clearly on the wall at this point.  At least third best selling of all time.

Switch being up YOY in a week with no big release is a very positive sign, especially given how strong 2021 was.

Wow, another week with Switch being above 300k. Next week's numbers include Splatoon 3 launch, so you know hardware sales are going to be good. I wonder how many 300k+ weeks Switch can get in a row.
