Thing is as well, Russian troops used Belarus as a staging area to invade Kyiv and Russia still has troops near the Belarus-Ukraine border. Ukraine attacking them is would still be a defensive measure.

Also, the notion that Ukraine would invade Belarus right now is absurd. Like Ukraine needs to drag another adversary into the conflict right now. Seems like another point aimed at Russia’s internal audience than anyone with any common sense.

I think Belarus Lukashenko won't attack, I think he's simply trying to do as much as possible without letting down daddy Putin for not doing enough, Putin obviously wants Belarus in Ukraine but Lukashenko is afraid to send his troops in due to coup fears and likely the fact that they wouldn't be much of a Belarus army to protect Lukashenko if they started a fight with Ukraine.

So I think these threats are simply a way to keep Ukraine preoccupied, unfortunately, Ukraine has to take them seriously, there is a chance still that Belarus could enter so that means Ukraine will have to keep a significant number of troops near the Belarusian border and in Kyiv still just in case and that is how Lukashenko is contributing to the war and helping Putin.

Would certainly be a decision alright to pick a war with Ukraine only 2 years after huge anti-government protests were just held in Belarus.

Lysychansk and the neighboring cities fell really fast considering how long Ukraine could defend Sievierodonetsk. I wonder if Russia massively increased their forces there the last few days/weeks or If Ukraine just didn't try that much this time
