Sweden is preparing for an offensive war against Russia, should it come to it. If Russia and Sweden go to war, Sweden won't focus limit itself to defense, but will use its capabilities to attack Russia directly.

I think a lot of the aggression we're seeing by Russia is more desperation and incompetence at this point. Baltoscandia sees it. Perhaps if the fight turns hot, they can reclaim Ingria and Eastern Karelen. :D

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

USA buying Diesel from Russia, again, lifting restrictions for Russia and telling Ukraine to stop attacking Russian oil industry. Who would have thought that this will happen.... surprise (not really).

It's only a "small" amount yet but it obviously is only the start, Trump will buy more, blackmail Europe to lift restrictions as well and will do everything so that Putin will finally get what he wants since years.

Why can't this asshole just die...

Trump attacking Iran -> Straight of Hormuz closure -> oil deficit + oil tanker deficit (some stuck and/or bombed)
Saudi Arabia attacking the Houthis -> Houthis closing the Bab al Mandeb straight and Saudi Arabia's oil pipeline / refineries -> oil / refinery capacity deficit + oil tanker deficit (now need to go around Africa)
China stocking up on oil and Diesel again -> oil deficit + diesel deficit
Ukraine and Russia bombing each others refineries -> diesel deficit

Diesel price in Canada has gone from avg CAD 1.60 a liter to CAD 2.60 a liter and rising.
Diesel price in the US has gone from avg $3.76 per gallon to avg $6.29 per gallon with some gas stations going up to $10 a gallon and even running out.

Trump has to buy more, the world needs Russian oil and Diesel. This is why economic sanctions and bombing vital infrastructure the world economy relies on do not work. Europe is in the same boat, Trump doesn't have to blackmail Europe but Europe can use that as a convenient scapegoat.

There is no military solution, only a stale mate that drives the world economy to collapse. We live in the age of cheap drones being able to take out vital infrastructure affecting the whole world. Ironically it's not nuclear weapons or AI that are going to collapse civilization, drones and dogmatic thinking are.

I can promise you Sweden is not preparing for an offensive war against anyone. What they're preparing for is the ability to strike inside the attacker, should they be attacked. The war in Ukraine has shown how important this is: since Russia keeps attacking from its own territory, it's important to be able to strike back to hamper the ability to strike from there.

I would be very wary of talking about reclaming anything. I would also be very wary of reclaming anything, because if other territories are anything to go by, the lands Russia took from Finland due to World War II are in absolutely shameful state, and developing them would not be cheap. Russia's is like the Midas touch, only reversed.

Sorry, by the smiley face I was trying to indicate that the latter part of my comment was a bit "tongue-in-cheek" (as they say) about the reclaiming former Swedish Imperial territory. Even if the capacity existed, that is definitely not the game I think we (Western civilization) should play. And yeah, I did overstate with "offensive war" when I probably should have said "offensive air capabilities".

I was mostly amused by the Swedish attitude expressed toward Russia.

I could see it was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but no worries.
