Nintendo’s clearing stock. The system will be discontinued in the region in February due to EU regulations. Gotta sell all that they still have out there. 

Nintendo never said that in the last Direct.  They had said in a past investor meeting that, going forward, Switch 2 is their priority.  The last Direct was originally described to focus on Switch 2 games launching this winter, but in fact, Koizumi specifically states at the beginning they will be showing "games coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 system, including some games that will also be available on the Nintendo Switch system."  Any ports of Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, Wooly World, or anything else that would also run on Switch 1 would be no different and a hypothetical 3DS port of A Link Between Worlds likely wouldn't be in-house anyway.

That's different from Nintendo continuing to devote full first-party resources to Switch 1 development.

I still expect a game or two from Nintendo for NS1 next year. The top 2 selling games this year are both Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Heaven.

You know, we can also just say ps2 is the best selling retro console of all time and the switchi the best selling modern console of all time.

I go back and forth if Switch will make it to 160 or not. But I do think they will pull it off. Landing above 160 million, but under the production number of the PS2. So everyone would be able to keep the discussion alive for eternity regarding what console sol more.

The problem is that neither the battery or the screen are what makes the Switch (2) expensive. As such, Nintendo could shave off maybe $70-80 at best by doing so on the switch 2, and less than that on the OG Switch.

Basically, it would make those release at their respective launch prices. But as even the Switch 2 can't keep up with the PS5 or Xbox series X, they may be too underpowered for this role. However, this may not be that much of an issue in more developing countries, where consoles as a hile were barely a thing so far.

Pretty much impossible, even for the OG Switch, memory prices and chip prices in general being what they are. Even $249 could be pushing it for the OG Switch.

Yeah that was my estimate, as well. It's not just the screen and battery, though. There's also the dock, the HDMI cable (dirt cheap, I know) and the manufacturing would be a lot more simple. Also, the boxes would be a lot smaller which also saves costs on warehouses and shipping. They could also keep selling Switch 1 in the EU this way. I think a Switch 1 at 50-75 bucks cheaper would be a great option. A Switch 2 at 80-100 bucks off, too. I don't think Switch customers are looking for something to rival the other consoles in power, so I don't think this would be a problem.
