Just Finished: Far Cry 5 (PS4)

I chose this because I was looking for another good co-op game to play. The co-op works well except that only the host's game progress would save. My friend was a trooper and played through most of the game twice for my benefit. The story alternates between being a humorous satire and getting into some deep spiritual and philosophical depictions. It is scary that this game is not too exaggerated from reality in some parts of the US. There is lots to explore, never though Montana would make a good setting for an open world game. The core First person Shooting and action mechanics work alright. The mission structure can get repetitive. I encountered some bugs and other questionable design decisions that hindered my enjoyment. Messed around withe arcade mode, which ain't bad. Some of the scenes are graphically impressive. I can't say that after this I am interested in playing any other Far Cry games though.

7/10

Just Finished: Resident Evil 6 (PS4)

Another online co-op game to play through. I recently completed both Resident Evil 4 and 5 and this game is a huge step down from both. It took the action shooting elements to the extreme. The game features atrocious pacing as it strings along one adrenaline pumping, quick time filled, set piece after another. After every huge segment or boss battle I was convinced that the level was over only for it to drag on. The controls are atrocious, some of the worst I have ever experienced. The game is not scary at all, so much for being a survival horror game. The monster design is disgusting though. The story doesn't make a lick of sense, especially how everything seems to be fine shortly after a missile detonates in a major city turning all of its residents into evil zombies. The way the 4 campaigns intersect is kinda neat, although it leads to some repetitive sections. I enjoyed Jake's campaign the most because it had a nice variety. Next was Leon's because he is my favorite character. Chris's campaign was an overstuffed shooting mess. Ada's campaign's was the worst and seemed like an afterthought not built with co-op in mind. The game has good value with each mission lasting about 45 minutes to an hour (some are too long). The graphics and framerate on PS4 made the visual experience enjoyable. Definitely the worst RE game I have played so far. I think I will go back and play through the remakes of RE 1, 2, and 3 for the first time before I move onto VII and VILLAGE. Hopefully it's all uphill from here.

One more game to add to the list.

Finished Games:

  1. Luigi's Mansion (Switch) My Rating: 8/10
    • Played through this game with my fiancée. Not sure if I would have liked it as much playing by myself, but in co-op it was a lot of fun. Not among the console's best games, but certainly enjoyable nonetheless.
  2. Super Mario Odyssey (Switch) My Rating: 9/10
    • I actually finished this game last year, but I realized I forgot to put it in last year's list, so it's here now. It's great. Probably the best 3D Mario game ever, or at least very close to it.
  3. Valkyria Chronicles 4 (PS4) My Rating: 9/10
    • An absolutely brilliant tactical RPG. Likely the first game I've beaten this year that'll end up in my top 50 list of all time at the end of the year. It's not quite as good as the first game in the series, but it's not far off.
  4. The Last of Us Part II (PS4) My Rating: 9/10
    • Pretty much just flew through this one in less than a week, which considering my work schedule is almost unheard these days. An excellent game. Not sure whether I like this or the first game more. The rating might even go up once I've had some time to think on it, and now that I have finally played it I still have no idea what some people's problem with the game was, outside of the obvious idiots getting angry at game having a diverse cast. Regardless, this is another game that's likely going to end up in my top 50 at the end of the year.
  5. Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4) My Rating: 9.5/10
    • Because of Forbidden West's impending release I wanted to go back and replay Zero Dawn, just to remind myself of the story and characters. Since that first playthrough I've considered Zero Dawn to be the best open world game of all time, and not much changed on my second go-around. The story, world, character, gameplay, visuals and music are all still amazing, and the only issues I have with the game are minor ones, like the inventory space being a bit too small for my liking.

Currently Playing:

  1. The Witcher (PC)

I got KH3 and the Memory game too when they both hit $20 but havent played them yet.

KH3 has great gameplay. Still somewhat questionable in the story side of things (also somewhat pissed due to finding out there's DLC).

Hmm, pie.

+ COGEN: Sword of Rewind (Xbox Series X)

I have a bad habit of playing a game without finishing it. I could have detachment issues.

Tales of Vesperia
Bravely Default II
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Super Mario Odyssey
Pokémon Sword/Shield

Fallout 4
Final Fantasy XV
Kingdom Hearts III
Valkyria Chronicles
Far Cry 6

Most of these games, I think I have 75%-90% completed. Come to think of it, I don't think I ever finished any game I have for either system save for FF7 Remake.

anyone finished sifu yet? rah its a tough game. feel like the deeper you go the less moves you use which kind of defeats the fun element. would be cool if u could do a redo of a room like checkpoint repeat as an unlock when you win the game maybe. like to redo rooms better
