Forums - Sales - PS5 Sales Top 14 Million, Switch Tops 94 Million - Global Hardware Oct 31 to Nov 6

A bit less for Switch than I expected.
Very strong performance from PS5 and XBS.

Everything is down. Switch is down YoY this week. PS5 is down compared to PS4 during the same time frame. Same story for X|S.

I think it is all due to shortages though. I went into Best Buy a few days ago and there were no consoles available of any kind. Not even the Switch Lite was available. There really needs to be a big restock of systems for Black Friday. People are buying everything up before the holidays have even come.

I thought PS4 can hit 120mil but looks unlikely. The PS5 is having legs now.

Healthy sales for all three current gen systems given the circumstances, but this holiday is going to be interesting with all three facing shortages.

Xbox Series X/S is about to outsell SEGA Saturn.

Overall, they're all doing great, even with the shortages.

@spynx Surpassing the Game Boy isn't a surefire thing for the PS4 either. If it does surpass Game Boy, I can actually see the Switch do it before the PS4. In any case, I see the PS4 ending somewhere in the 117 million's. Maybe it will barely cross 118 million.

So are these consoles behind the 9th gen for the hollidays? I'm not 100% but i think the 8th gen was selling higher per week. Kust a bigger head start for the 9th gen.

Consoles Total Sales Week 52 Sales
PS5+XSX 22,840,608 543,287
PS4+XBO 20,736,197 744,796
PS3+360 11,347,877 359,927

9th gen is ahead of 8th gen by 2.1m, PS4+XBO sold 200k more this week. This was the week Call of Duty Advanced Warfare released in 2014 providing a big boost. Call of Duty Vanguard released for PS5+XSX but they don't have the stock to make use of a boost and Vanguard is seemingly not a very popular Call of Duty title.

PS4+XBO has won the last 3 weeks in a row, but the 3 weeks before that were won by PS5+XSX so 8th gen isn't consistently catching up yet.

So its recent then. Well we heard just bad news from tech companies so now I wonder if we will se a chance that 8th gen catches up.
