Okay I think I sorted it out, just gotta leave the free-aim alone so it still aims ahead and up, and hit and hold right trigger and y right after letting go of a grapple point to hit the next one. It works, but it's still a horribly and needlessly clumsy solution for something pretty much every other game with this feature solved 20 years ago with one button press.

Thankfully, not enough to scuttle an otherwise excellent game.

It shocked me how much harder it felt to aim at those than it was in Samus Returns. Everything in Dread is a big improvement from the 3DS game but grapple really sticked out.

Assuming you already have Flash Drift, using it in the air can get you past some of the sections where you're expected to grapple across.

I swear like every other game in the world moved on to auto-grapple with a single button in the 7th gen if not the 6th. Literally, just ZR is all they needed. One of the dumbest design choices I've seen in a game in years.

Auto-grapple with ZR would have been fine for grapple points (which are rare) but you often grapple unto the spider magnet sections and for those it's really nice to be able to aim at which part of it you wanna grapple.

Depressingly relatable. That's why I don't like the way this industry is build upon temporary contracts

No thanks. You could have just summed it up in your post.

It seems Dread was awful to work on just like Prime was almost 20 years ago. With the former, Nintendo eventually stepped in and made a huge reorganization, but it's unlikely they'd do anything similar with Mercury Steam.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

From what I can make out it's like construction, to give an example it's like the engineering and construction industry here in the UK (using the UK as I don't know if it's the same where everyone else is), most people aren't fully employed by a company they're only contracted to do a certain task on a project such as the plumbers do the plumbing and so on. When your task is done your contract is fulfilled and you move on in most industries I'm aware of temp workers aren't really credited and you're often aware of that from the beginning for example my name won't come up if you look up who built the Shard in the UK or the thousand other workers and engineers who worked there at the time you can however have who ever was in charge give you a reference for future jobs.

The part on needing to work on 25% of the project on one hand sounds a bit much but on the other hand the are cases in the past of someone doing one small task and then going on to claim they were integral to a product, project or someone's success so I can see why something like that would be added into a contract.

Well they don't own MS unlike Retro.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Anyway, apart from that unfortunate business, still going marvellously. I beat the 3rd and 4th bosses, both tough but I only died a couple of times on each before claiming victory.

The story sequence with

Spoiler!
Quiet Robe was pretty cool and I like the idea that Raven Beak is after your DNA as that's the last place the Metroid's DNA remains. I also really liked that they had Samus talk, but only a single, badass line in an alien language.

Clever way to completely sidestep and counteract the Other M problem.

You could easily have had both though; when aiming, hit ZR to grapple to a specific spot, but if you're not aiming, default to an autograb. Simple fix.
