I need to look into those videos to see if my fears goes away. Also being able to tweak settings on games like in PC without going through the hazzle of building one is also a huge plus for me.  And the best part for me is that the games are native instead of streaming.  I think by christmas I am getting one.  plenty of time to decide.

We are in the same boat.  I have no experience either.  Based on talking with folks  here and watching a few videos, seems super easy.  If you would like, once I get my Deck, I can feedback the level of difficulty.  I'm giving it a go with zero previous experience.

I started doing emulation back in the year 2000. Many here were not born lol. But since I stopped hard emulation after my last Xperia Play phone (how I miss that one...), whenever I want to try a new system I still feel the need to research like I had never done, since so many things change in a very short timeframe. But it should in no way be as hard as applying professional and complex mods via Nexus Manager, so if you ever modded Skyrim, Witcher or some other famous "moddable" game you should be absolutely fine.

Got a great deal on 256 GB SanDisk Ultra microSD cards.
Bought 4 x 256 GB (so 1 TB in total) for 30 €.

It's time to label my SD-card-adapters with stickers, which show logos of the game series on each microSD card.

One of my microSD-cards is filled with all compatible LEGO games, one with all Telltale games (+ Life is Strange + David Cage), one with Emulation stuff. The next ones will be filled with Assassin's Creed games, Batman Arkham games and Tomb Raider games.

Maybe one micro-SD card with racing games, logo will be a car.

So far I've prepared these logos, but perhaps I'll change them:

Got a few more microSD-card on sales.

Currently the games are separated to point&click adventures, interactive stories (Telltale Games/Quantic Dreams/Life is Strange), first person shooters, platformers ( + Batman Arkham), Sony PC ports, Tomb Raider/PoP, Ubisoft Launcher (Assassin's Creed/South Park), Origin Launcher, Western RPGs, JRPGs, LEGO games and emulation:

The SD-card box has additional space for another 24 microSD-cards without SD-adapters

Not really much work, just copying and resizing some logos.

Then printing them onto a single sheet and cutting them out.

And now I printed them on real stickers, not on normal paper with using scotch tape:

Steam setting its sights on Japan. Nintendo, show us your game face!

The Steam Deck effect on my game purchases:

Last year 43% Steam games (and 59% PC games in total), Q1 - Q3 this year 70% Steam games (and 81% PC games in total):

Best gaming experience on the go with Steam Deck, so almost no iPad games anymore and no third party stuff for my Switch, only Nintendo exclusives.

PlayStation games also reduced to Sony exclusives and my PS+ subscription. Xbox costs reduced to 50% of my GamePass Ultimate subscription.

"Non-Steam" purchases for PC reduced to a few GOG-, itch.io- and Epic-bargains + 50% of my GamePass Ultimate subscription.
