Nice to see the PS5 still hold a slight lead over the PS4, all things considered. Based on Sony's projections, it looks like the PS5 will stay ahead of the PS4 for a while.

Nice to see Xbox Series continuing to fare better than its predecessor. It does seem like a better console, and once they finally get some games out I'm optimistic their expanded first party studios can provide it with a better lineup.

If I'm looking at this right, it appears that every month by the Switch since March '20 has been over 1.5M, which is higher than any non-holiday month that PS4 or XBox One achieved during the entire timeframe of this graph. That's pretty amazing.

Switch: SW-3707-5131-3911
XBox: Kenjabish

The Wii fought hard, but the Switch simply has more stamina.
By the end of the year, Wii may well be overtaken.

Hopefully by now Xbox have adjusted their manufacturing ratio to make more of the X and less of the S.
The latter is sitting unsold on shelves around the world while the X is snapped up instantly.

I remember some people saying that for Switch to outsell the PS4 would depend on Nintendo support.

Now it looks like it's just a matter of time.

Switch vs PS4 Sales Comparison - June 2021

This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 4.

The PlayStation 4 launched in November 2013, while the Nintendo Switch launched worldwide in March 2017. Therefore, the holiday periods for the two consoles do not lineup, which is why there are big increases and decreases.

Switch Vs. PS4 Global:

Gap change in latest month: 575,320 - Switch

Gap change over last 12 months: 8,275,831 - Switch

Total Lead: 11,922,204 - Switch

Switch Total Sales: 88,136,444

PS4 Total Sales: 76,214,240

June 2021 is the 52nd month that the Nintendo Switch has been available for. During the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the Switch by 575,320 units when compared to the PlayStation 4 during the same timeframe. In the last 12 months, the Switch has outsold the PlayStation 4 by 8.28 million units. The Switch is currently ahead of the PlayStation 4 by 11.92 million units.

The 52nd month on sale for the Nintendo Switch is June 2021, while for the PlayStation 4 it is February 2018. The Switch has sold 88.14 million units, while the PlayStation 4 sold 76.21 million units during the same timeframe. The PlayStation 4 did not reach current Switch sales until month 61 where it sold 88.99 million units.

The PlayStation 4 has sold 115.79 million units through June 2021. The Nintendo Switch is currently 27.65 million units behind the lifetime sales of the PlayStation 4.

Switch looks on track to surpass PS4's total sales in holiday 2022, with this year tracking to be close to 2020 in terms of Switch sales, next year's lineup looking strong already, and PS4 having slowed to a crawl.

@curl-6 The Switch might even pass the Game Boy before the PS4 surpasses the Game Boy (assuming the PS4 does surpass it, which I still consider to be likely, especially with a lot of big PS5 games also releasing on PS4 into 2022).

Yeah i still expect PS4 will pass the Gameboy, it only has to sell another 2.9 million, and since I don't expect it to be discontinued until 2023 or later, I think it can inch its way there.

Isn't PS5 vs PS3 just cruel towards PS3? PS5 is gonna crush it right from the start and never look back.
