Impossible, unless Microsoft buys Sony.

Even if they were giving away xbox for free it would be almost impossible.

Microsoft would have to launch at least 5 new single player masterpieces in year 1, which is impossible as we are already 9 months in, and nothing is even coming this whole year to beat Horizon zero dawn, god of war, spiderman, demon souls, the last of us 2, Ghost of tsushima, death stranding, etc

Microsoft could do it, example sea of thieves as a great opportunity but they made it online, it could have been be best pirate single player ever. Microsoft should have noted that playstation sells because they have plenty single player masterpieces, that's what xbox needs. Online is good, but we already have fortnite and call of duty for that, people buy consoles based on the single player exclusives.

In a way yes. But its more that multyplayer games are served by third partys across all platforms. It's their go to for them to sell mtx. So in that world abundand with online multiplats what really shines in the offline single player games. What MS is doing is competing with their partners as gamers choose just a couple of live services to focus on.

Whats an mtx?

Like I said, single player exclusives is what sells consoles, look at the switch with breath of the wild and mario odyssey, or ps4 with spiderman, god of war, last of us, uncharted 4.

Microsoft should have been ready if they wanted a chance to beat sony, they should have gotten Halo and a new Gears ready for launch day and it should have been the best campaigns for both.

Multiplayer games like call of duty, battlefield and so on will be on both systems so people do not choose the console based on multiplayer.

The biggest reason that xbox will never beat playstation is that you can get all its games on PC, and most of us have PCs, well most gamers anyway. So half the gaming population doesnt even have a reason to own an xbox.

Microsoft should have left games such as Ori, forza, Gears, Halo all exclusives.

Can you imagine the xbox sales if the next elder scrolls and fallout were only on xbox? It would outsell the ps5 for sure.

PS now is nothing like gamepass, at all. PSnow uses streaming, and unless you have a very fast internet, your game will be lagging.

Xbox controller will always be better for the fact they actually have an official pro controller which is better than any ps controller, I have the elite 2 for my PC and I have the ps5 and I have to use kontrolfreeks just so its half decent. Battery on the xbox controller is 4x the one on ps5.

Sales this generation means nothing as both consoles are out of stock.

This generation xbox is doing a lot more than last gen, so don't expect to be a copy of last generation

1 - Gamepass is getting popular, especially now that games on ps5 are 70 dollars

2 - This time xbox is the more powerful console compared to last gen

3 - This time xbox s the most stable console software wise, I cant tell you how many times switching on after rest mode and I cant move on the home screen, and a couple times the image was all black, no signal, but fortunately its an easy fix. Hopefully the new update will fix some of these issues.

4 - This time xbox has bethesda, so exclusives like fallout, doom, prey, wolfenstein, elder scrolls will all be xbox. And they are starting with a bang with Starfield and Halo infinite, also forza horizon 5, which is not my cup of tea but its a big one.

Personally I'm happy to have the ps5 and switch, because my PC has all xbox games and its on the same level power wise, if I didnt have the PC I'd have bought an xbox instead of ps5. I'm happy I can play ghost of tsushima, last of us 2, demon souls, etc

PSNow and Gamepass are more similar than you think, and while Streaming is an option  (And the only option for PS3 games), you CAN download a portion of the games to your hard drive. so while they're not identical, they are more alike than you think.

Xbox's controller is nowhere near the same level as PS5's Dualsense. You can't compare expensive controllers that cost as much as a system to one another. The default controllers that come with the consoles are not even on the same level. this isn't even an opinion, it's an indisputable fact.

While yes it's true that both are out of stock, there's a lot more to it than that. One, PS5 is still outselling by a wide margin, and two, in mainstream culture PS gets far more love and attention and is a part of a brand that has far more legacy and has a far more consistent track record. PS is continuing its momentum, so it's fair to assume it will do so.

Again, like I've said a dozen times and will continue to say until it changes: Xbox is promising more this generation. Until they deliver on it, it means nothing. Sure, they're not DRM machines (Though GamePass is its own form of DRM, a different route to the same concept of being able to control what games you have access to) and they're not pushing Kinect, but where they haven't gotten any major gaffes, they still don't have games. And, as the PS5 and Switch (And Sony/Nitnendo as a whole) have proven it's that games DO matter.

The marginal difference in power is NOT as significant as you seem to think. Rarely does the most powerful console win its generation. Xbox was stronger than Gamecube and PS2 and the PS2 destroyed it. PS3 was the most powerful console that generation and it lost to the Wii - a system barely stronger than the PS2. The Xbox One X was by far the strongest console last generation and it didn't come close to PS4's output. PSP lost to DS, Vita got destroyed by 3DS. Power does not equal public love. Hell, look at iPhones. They lack the raw power of Samsung and Huawei phones yet perform similarly and sell remarkably well. IT's not about power, it's about what you do with it. I find it shocking that people keep trying to push that narrative. IT was a stupid argument when PS3 fanboys claimed it and it's just as foolish now.

And...the difference in performance between Xbox Series X and PS5 is so minute that people literally need computers and machines to calculate the differences in framerates and loading times. for all intents and purposes, the two devices are identical. If you need to go to digital foundry to learn that the Xbox has slightly better resolution or framerates, then it's not enough to matter to the average consumer. And, like, the Switch is selling the best and the games that do the best are the ones that aren't that impressive. Pokemon sword and Shield are notoriously simple and rudimentary games and yet, BAM, 20+ million sold. Power. Does. Not. Matter. To. The. Average. Consumer.

and do we really need to go over all the differences in games/exclusives? Again, I've heard the same 'Microsoft has xxx studios under their belt' for half a decade now and virtually nothing has come of it. For a year or two after the initial acquisitions, sure! Games take time, and nobody can expect the momentum to shift on a dime like that. but we've been experiencing a drought ever since 2017 with only a trickling of exclusives on Microsoft's side. I'm sorry, but all these promises mean absolutely nothing until we actually see some game releases.

When I look at sony and their future slate of games, I can go 'yeah, the last Horizon game and the last God of War games were generation-defining. I think it's fair to say their sequels will be good'. or 'man, the people who made Returnal made a fantastic game that was a new IP, I'm looking forward to whatever they do next'. There's history there. there's a pedigree to consider. You can look at companies that have done well in the past and say 'they have earned the benefit of the doubt'. Can you say that with Microsoft?

And the companies that they Do have are suffering a lot lately. Bethesda's reputation is in the shitter thanks to Fallout 76. Rare hasn't made a good game since their Nintendo days (Okay, Sea of Thieves is apparently good now but it took, what, two years on the market to be not-shitty? Sorry, that's not a glowing endorsement). The Initiative? They have no history. Very few of the studios Microsoft owns have any momentum at this time.

I get having hope. I understand that we all want these companies to do well. I would love for one of these studios to suddenly break out and create the next mega hit. Everyone would. but until that happens, the promises are empty. Until we actually see all these games come out and they actually do well, it's nothing more than potential. Y'all need to stop touting these studios as sure things. You can't keep saying it's gonna be good without any good coming of it. When the games come out and we see how they do, we can reconvene and discuss matters. In the meantime, it's fiction. IT's your fantasy and nothing more.

Microtransactions? Did I abbreviate wrong?

I never disagreed with you. Just said why I think single player is more important. But we both think single player is more important.

And yes I also agree that the xbox was made redundant by MS by putting all their games day one in PC. And its gona hurt them more now as the diminishing return on performance is getting almost not worth it if you have a decent old rig. Also not to mention that MS aiming at series s performance will guaranty that most peoples pc could be satiafied with what they have.

Not trying to fan any flames or anything but I dissagre with the notion that all companies must do well. We cant keep suporting some of the worst outcomes in history because of the notion of competition. Cuz what we are doing is rewarding mediocrity and punishing Excellency. Especially when it's one of if not the most lucrative companies in the world. They don't need our support and have all the means to turn things around on their own.

Like you said. They have been promissing things for years now and still we have seen nothing from them. I would say untill we actually have content from them can we say that we would like to support competition. Cuz first and foremost a product needs to be competitive before you want to invest in it. Cuz right now xbox has no incentive to change of fans will just justify everything in the name of competition.

Multi-player is more important than single-player nowadays. The best selling games list of each platform (Nintendo, Microsof, Sony) mostly have multi-player features. The importance of them is so obvious that even a game like The Last of Us 2 will get a multi-player version eventually although I have no idea how they will manage to turn it into a multi-player game

To say single player games is what sells consoles when the best selling lists says the opposite... well I'm not really buying it. Or do you think people buy Fifa to play it alone ?

However I agree if a multi-player game is available in two platforms the choice will change from pricing, performance and userbase. PS5 and Series X have similar prices and neglible performance gap, Sony is already in advantage because it has far bigger brand and fandom loyalty. You can literally bring your PS4 library to PS5 for free and play them in higher quality, so why change to another platform?

A hint people ignores when talking about console sales: People, overall, dislike changes. They will change only they absolutely needs to. If you favorite brand is dissapointing you then you can find something else, but seeing how no PS home console sold anything less than 80 million copies in almost 30 years is hard to believe the majority of Playstation customers wants to go somewhere else.

Again I dont dissagre. But I pointed out beforr is that if a gamer wants multiplayer games they are in no short supply. That's what most third party's and the biggest games out there thrive on. So when it comes tonpicking out s console you most likely will pick the one that has you covered and all consoles are covered by multiplayer games but only 2 comsoles, ps5 and switch thrive on their single player offerings. So in this case single player games are more important.

Oh, I'm just trying to be nice. I think Microsoft should become a third party studio as opposed to a first party manufacturer. Everything about their business practices scream 'The Xbox doesn't matter, just the brand does'. For years it's been clear that they don't care WHERE people play their games, just that people play them. So if they just went third party and put all their games on PS consoles and PC, it'd change the gaming landscape for the better.

Nintendo does innovation and quirk, Sony does performance and appeals to a wide crowd. Between the two (and PC for those who really care about customization and raw strength/power) it covers pretty much everything needed in a living room/bedroom.

I just like to genuinely wish Microsoft well because I'd rather they succeed than try and fail. But ideally, they'd just give up and consolidate their games on other platforms. If they're going to make a console, they really gotta step their game up and make something special. as it stands it's just a stronger Xbox One, where all the games are on PC anyway. Nothing about the series X is unique to it, so why even make consoles if it just costs them money? why do GamePass if it's an investment sink that isn't really doing much to pay off (They've said time and time again it's about long-term investment, not upfront profit).

I like Xbox as a brand; I enjoyed the original Xbox, the 360 is my #3 console of all time, and though the Xbone never appealed to me, the Series feels like it has real potential, and I am seriously considering getting one in the future.

I also believe competition is good for the industry and so I want to see them do well.

But nothing I've seen so far indicates to me that they have a snowball's chance in hell of catching the PS5. Heck, at this point, I'll be measuring their success by how much they outsell the Xbone.

They launched day one on Xbox and on Game Pass, he's right.

Their beef with the list can be summed up with this video

Even if you want to play console warz and remove certain games because they "don't count", it's still like 6 or 7 games rated 80 or higher and a bunch rated 70 or higher and two games below a 70. So the idea that "hAlF tHe DaY oNe GaMeZ r RaTeD bAd" is factually incorrect.

I thought OP's post was funny and reaching but some of these recent posts...
