Looks like a duel between France and Switzerland after the jury's votes

But they're the only ones with 0 points after the jury's votes

Edit: UK: Zero points!

oof

Happy for Italy winning this.

Ukraine and France were my favourites, and Italy's song was pretty nice too, so I'm quite pleased with the results.

My personal top 5 was:

1. Ukraine
2. France
3. Portugal
4. Lithuania
5. Italy

So I'm a little disappointed that France just barely missed out on the victory, but still very happy with the overall results.

Italy's song was decent, glad it won over the France and Switzerland, neither of which I liked.

My favourites were

- Serbia, Greece, Lithuania (I think) - for the catchy, dance-y stuff that Eurovision does so well
- Finland - for the nu metal nostalgia
- Ukraine - for the atmosphere, and generally just a great song

Great show. I felt a vibe of patriotic pride. Our song was pretty meh, but getting no points from the public at all was harsher than I thought it would be. Germany was terrible. Really terrible. UK wasn’t good either. Still loved Portugal, was my favorite over the course of the three shows. Disappointed it didn’t get much recognition from the public. Malta’s low score was surprising as well. Still, glad Italy won, good song. So was France.

Oh lol, out of all the songs I liked the one from the UK the most but that one got last place, zero points, holy cow!

agree! I believe it would have done better had they kept the retro concept all the way, the music was kinda lost after the first half when all those effects kicked in...

I voted for Portugal, France, Switzerland, Bulgaria

Italy was great too, I'm a rock fan and a fan of the band since they became popular in Italy, and compared to their other songs this one is just ok, still glad a stylish actual music, actual lyrics rock retro style song won! Europe's still got it and Italian music deserves more recognition

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

When you think about it, Malta's score wasn't surprising. There has been a clear trend of bonus points towards songs that are about a topic of interest. This year's "strong women" songs were outclassed by the desire for an end of COVID lockdowns and being told what you are allowed to do, so that's where all these points went. Italy's song wasn't anything special nor were most people able to understand the lyrics, but it got mentioned often enough what their song was about. On the plus side, Italy's song wasn't terrible, unlike some of the other more recent song contest winners.

In other news, 66% of Germany's points came from Austria's jury. I am not sure if this should make me feel sad or if I should view it as an epic troll move, i.e. pity points.

It’s true that these message-songs always get bonus points, at least when it comes to the jury vote. The big discrepancy between Malta’s jury and televote was interesting to me. At one point I had the theory that the general public has become tired of these things, since indeed a lot of those songs did mediocre at best and some like our Dutch song did terrible. However Russia still seemed pretty consistent between jury and televotes, but that could’ve also just been because that act was actually fun to watch, like Lithuania’s.

Anyway, besides the great show, I can also be happy with the fact that Greece’s entry won a cool 10th place. She lives in Utrecht so that’s partly a Dutch success.

It's already been more than a day but just wanted to say that I enjoyed the show this year. Was really happy to watch it with @Flilix and @LittleSnake

Regarding who won, I was rooting for Ukraine, Norway, Finland. Sadly they didn't make it. Not even mad at Italy winning. It's a pretty good song and I am just happy the false singing French song didn't win (sorry fans).

Oh btw, I have really gotten into the Icelandic group. Definitely grows on ye.
