Are you sure its ahead of ps4? I'm 100% sure this is not the case

Remember ps4 is a software beast, over 1.5 billion software sold. Is the switch even at half that number?

PS4 has 10 games that have sold 10 million or higher.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_PlayStation_4_video_games

It doesn't matter if more games have sold on PS4 than Switch, Switch has Nintendo as a publisher. PS2 had over 1.5 billion games sold on it, only three of those sold above 10 million.

There could be and very likely are more than ten, because most multiplatform games don't get their sales on each platform revealed. Several more CoD and Fifa games almost definitely sold over 10mil on PS4 and Minecraft definitely did too.

Actually I think the Switch already has twelve 10mil sellers because of Minecraft.

Also, Nintendo may have been the most profitable gaming division of all time this fiscal year. Nintendo had a profit of 5 Billion+ which is more than Sony's best of 3 Billion and certainly better than Microsoft. Only gaming divisions that may have been more profitable are Apple or Tencent but not 100% sure.

for 2019

"In addition to Tencent, 9 other companies generated more than $1b in profit from software & services including ... Nintendo ($2.3B)..."

@bold Doesn't this JUST mean game sales, dlc, and subscriptions? Those two words don't seem to include (in my mind) profit they have generated from hardwar sales of console, extra docks, joycons, controllers, amiibos, and other physical merchandise. If those things are taken into consideration, and Nintendo has one again sold the Switch hardware at a profit (like they often do with their consoles), then I'd imagine their profit for 2019 to be far higher than $2.3 billion. So it all depends on what "software & services" means.

It says 11 titles btw, but those numbers are obviously way out of date and very incomplete, where are all the COD's and Fifa's, you know those titles that each years are the best sellers?

I do agree that the ratio of the 10 million sellers will most likely be higher on the switch, but when the ps4 has sold nearly 3x as much software to claim the switch has more 10 million sellers is laughable, just look at Jumpinfs wiki list and then add all the titles that they didnt have the data to include

Switch software 587 millions sold

PS4 software 1562 millions sold

The Switch number does not include digital only titles, the PS4 number does.

Great sales all around! Nice to see Nintendo kicking ass! Hopefully they can keep this up for the next few years and not pull the plug early.

Looks like Nintendo profits off of recessions. Wasn't expecting ACNH to surpass MK, but I was expecting ACNH to be slightly higher than it was. Hope it can still hit 40m this year!

Will Switch be adjusted up or down? Also, I thought 360 was at 84.0, meaning Switch surpassed it?

I would say they are equally profiting off mental health issues skyrocketing. Ever since lockdowns started, abuse cases are up, suicides are up, people getting diagnosed with mental disorders (like anxiety, depression, etc.) are up. Studies are being done on how people are physically and mentally worse off since all this Covid-19 stuff started happening. When people are stressed, they turn to escapism. This is why the movie industry did well during economic recessions/depressions, the same economic eras that other industries failed in. And when it comes to games, what's better at escapism than happy cartoon/cgi games with colorful art styles, humor, pretty music, and charm like Nintendo provides?

They are profiting off being an anxiety-reducing company in a world filled with anxiety.

Ring fit adventure a jrpg?

Played it and its kinda fun for 10min but in no way its a jrpg.

It's very unconventional but it is a RPG. As you progress, you gain levels, moves, money, you buy items and clothing(armor equivalent) that boost your stats.

Ow wauw, then maybe inplayed another ring fit?

Felt a lot more like a modern version of wiisport but bit more fun to play.

Didnt see any story or anything that resambles a jrpg....

But o well.

I love seeing these insane numbers.

Link's Awakening actually surprised me. I love that it's over 5 million (well deserved), I did not think it would reach that after it's second quarter drop.

I just wish we could see numbers for the third party games that sold over 1 million. Games like Dragon Quest 11, Minecraft, Doom, etc.

14 third party titles sold over 1 million this fiscal year alone. Third party games are doing pretty darn well on Switch, which is so good to see.

Insane.

So we have 100M confirmed this year. MK8DX will not be outsold by AC lol. Pokemon SW/SH over 21m. Amazing times.

Splatoon sold another 2 mil this quarter lol
Hyrule Warriors AoC sold over 3 mil in the US alone
Ring fit adventure has broke 10mil units sol

Splatoon 2 sold 310k copies, 2mil and AoC sold 3mil everywhere except Japan, not just the US.

You are right on those two points. Copy and pasted without checking.
