Kids are so much luckier with stuff like this these days, game development/design was so much harder in the past.

Well, this isn't really going to be a good game to do actual game design or development, more so one to initiate people, especially kids like you said, to a career they might be interested in. Which, I imagine is what you meant, just specifying.

That's said I'm truly curious to see what Nintendo is bringing in. Even if I myself don't enjoy making games, I hope this game becomes a success. This is actually some kind of Software I've seen many professors and scholars trying to create: A software to teach people (generally kids) high-level programming. This game can be really meaningful for future teaching graduates let's see what Nintendo is bringing in

I think this will be the part that will make or break the game, the part where they teach people the concepts they need. That is the hard part and Nintendo is one of the few companies that are willing to polish their games to the point where that learning experience could is more than just a lackluster tutorial. They did a decent job with their story mode in Mario Maker and I hope they put enough time and effort into that part so that a 10 year old can actually learn the skills to make small game prototypes.

One of these days, when I have the time (so not anytime soon with both Monster Hunter and my backlog to be getting on with) I need to try to put aside my distaste for its art style and VA and give Astral Chain a proper go.

Like every new IP from Nintendo this gen, its not for me.

Nothing Nintendo has made since Pikmin is for me, either. Thankfully, there's the rest, but deep down I wish we could get a brand new action adventure game that could supplement Zelda.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

I like the short amount of time between announcement and release date.

I hope you do, it's so good.

I will. Just don't know how long it will take to get around to it when I'm still hopelessly addicted to Monster Hunter and still have Sniper Elite 4 to finish and Ori and the Will of the Wisps not even started yet haha.

Okay this you really have to get around to already.

I've pencilled it in for June, to give me this month to satisfy my Monster Hunter obsession. I'll put Sniper Elite on hold if I have to and get around to it in July or something.

Have you played Astral Chain?

Well I consider that a Platinum Games game. Just like The Wonderful 101. But if you count it, then sure, I like 1 new IP from Nintendo this gen.

1.Nintendo owns Astral Chain IP.

2.Nintendo doesn't even care about The Wonderful 101, it will always fail hard regardless of exclusive or multi platforms.

1. Yeah, but thats like saying "Why did Sony, the owners of Insomniac, release Sunset Overdrive exclusively for the Xbox One?" Well they werent the owners at that point. Im not giving Nintendo the credit for Astral Chain. Just like I dont give Sony credit for Street Fighter 5. The next AC, sure.(If there ever will be a next one. I highly doubt it.)

2. Not sure what that has to do with anything, but ok.

They actually already co-owned Astral Chain, though, before buying the IP outright.

In fact, Nintendo considered Astral Chain a first party game when it was announced:

You know, you can just say that you expect EPD to make new IPs you care about. That's a perfectly reasonable and valid wish. Using a term as general as Nintendo just causes a lot of headaches.
