I thought PS4 would hit 130m+ as well..... but sony slowed down production, never gave it that final 50$ price cut it needed to keep going, they never did the super slim.

PS5 as well has potential to go 130m+.
However it depends on if they pull off the right moves.

Really hard to say, I think many might be overestimating actual demand due to the shortages, this has happened before in the market. And we're still not in a "normal" market, look at the dire situation with PC components, for instance. It seems that every new piece of hardware is destined to beat the PS2, this is probably the only thing I'm sure of with the PS5; it won't go that far, market cycles today simply won't allow it, and competition is looking more fierce. With MS going on a spree buying studios and shilling cloud gaming and Sony seemingly to aim for more PC releases, this seems to be Sony's own sentiment as well.

PS5 is huge though.

Alot of that is cooling, and I feel like once it gets a chip shrink (5nm?) they can remove some of that cooler in terms of size.
And drop price abit.   Maybe the SSD part, gets cheaper with time too? again leaveing a small saveing.

That said, I doubt it goes much lower than 350$ (digital version) and 399$ physical one, even after the shrinkage.
I dont expect Xbox Series X, to drop much over time either.

I feel similarly to how Nintendo is going. If they keep the Switch going, I can see it potentially besting the PS2 as the best-selling console of all time...but if Nintendo does what Nintendo always does by kinda doing their own thing regardless of the market's demands, I just don't see it doing that. I figure they'll make a successor too early and completely cut out the late-game legs of the Switch before it reaches that height. Which is a shame because I'd love to see such an amazing console/handheld hybrid atop the charts! It sincerely deserves it.

My favourite consoles of all time are the SNES (For nostalgia), PS4 (For the sheer variety of amazing games), and the Switch (for its versatility and games). I can see the Ps5 besting the PS4 on this list because...come on, it does everything the PS4 does PLUS PS5 games/features.

As long as Sony doesn't pull a Sony and get too cocky/stupid late-generation, I absolutely see the Ps5 besting the PS4's numbers.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

When you think about it, something that has never happen before will happen : two consoles of the same generation will do above 100M (Switch and PS5).

Edit : It will be the second time, sorry.

I half suspect that the rumored Switch Pro, is actually Switch 2.
They will do what Sony & Microsoft are doing, and make it able to play all older Switch games.... while future games, will be for this system alone.

Switch is 4,5 years old, it could be closeing in on 5 years, when this new Switch model releases.
nintendo arnt fans of useing numbers to differenciate between console gens, so they ll likely think up some new name.
Super Switch! or New Switch! Switch U. ect

I hope PS5 ends up beating the PS4, but so far, Im not that optimistic about it.
Sony could do something stupid (greedy) instead of aiming to grow their install base.

I mean, they are pretty good with handheld backwards compatibility. Game Boy Color played all Game Boy games. Game boy Advance played all Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. DS played all Game Boy Advance and Game Boy games. 3DS played all DS games. Only the Switch was ever a full restart and...it's doing just fine. I would love a Switch-2 or something. Convert all my games to the new console, get newer stuff. I do love Nintendo, even if they frustrate me.

I take it we aren't counting DS + Wii?

I fully agree. With those 2 companies they are their own obstacles.

I fully think that the switch is gona be a 2 istead of a pro. Mostly because they want some third party support. Right now is barebones and with the ps5 and series I think they want to release something that can play scaledown games. Really wish Nintendo just forgets getting the big AAA multiplats and just focus on getting third party exclusives. Taylor made for their high installbase device.

With Sony I do fear they get greedy. But mostly due to the lack of competition from MS. Its still over a year from now untill we see anything from all the adquisitions they made. I fully think God of war and grand turismo where meant to be ps5 only games but they saw they are competing against nobody and said let's make some cash while we can. It would benefit more on the long run to have had those big titles be even greater so when MS finally releases something they still compete.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.
