Really hard to say, I think many might be overestimating actual demand due to the shortages, this has happened before in the market. And we're still not in a "normal" market, look at the dire situation with PC components, for instance. It seems that every new piece of hardware is destined to beat the PS2, this is probably the only thing I'm sure of with the PS5; it won't go that far, market cycles today simply won't allow it, and competition is looking more fierce. With MS going on a spree buying studios and shilling cloud gaming and Sony seemingly to aim for more PC releases, this seems to be Sony's own sentiment as well.
