The DS and Switch battle is just insanity! The closeness of that fight is so fun to watch!

Around the Network

End of 2008 NDS will be at 93.8 million. So seems like the lead then will be around 10-11 million. Even though Switch selling numbers, the biggest lead then to date for NDS vs NSW.

That Switch has not just kept pace but actually GAINED on DS in the last 12 months, when aligned with the latter's insane boom years, is just bonkers.

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.

Switch vs PS4 Sales Comparison - February 2021

This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 4.

Switch Vs. PS4 Global:

Gap change in latest month: 483,530 - Switch

Gap change over last 12 months: 8,647,007 - Switch

Total Lead: 14,433,752 - Switch

Switch Total Sales: 80,370,221

PS4 Total Sales: 65,936,469

February 2021 is the 48th month that the Nintendo Switch has been available for. During the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the Switch by 483,530 units when compared to the PlayStation 4 during the same timeframe. In the last 12 months, the Switch has outsold the PlayStation 4 by 8.65 million units. The Switch is currently ahead of the PlayStation 4 by 14.43 million units.

The PlayStation 4 launched in November 2013, while the Nintendo Switch launched worldwide in March 2017. Therefore, the holiday periods for the two consoles do not lineup, which is why there are big increases and decreases.

The 48th month on sale for the Nintendo Switch is February 2021, while for the PlayStation 4 it is October 2017. The Switch has sold 80.37 million units, while the PlayStation 4 sold 65.94 million units during the same timeframe. The PlayStation 4 did not reach current Switch sales until month 56.

The PlayStation 4 has sold 115.11 million units through February 2021. The Nintendo Switch is currently 34.74 million units behind the lifetime sales of the PlayStation 4.

One thing, which is pretty amazing, which i just really became aware of right now:

Switch Month 32: 40,736,064 (October 2019)
Switch Month 48: 80,370,221 (February 2021)

I know it includes 2 holiday seasons, but selling 40 million units in only 16 month, which is only half of the time as for the first 40 million units, is still quite remarkable.

With a 14.4 million lead, about the only thing that can prevent the Switch from overhauling PS4 lifetime now is Nintendo being morons and replacing it prematurely.

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.

8th Gen won’t make it; they’ll lose to the 7th Gen by about 5M in the end.
Switch vs. PS4 is done, Switch will fly past PS4.
Switch vs. DS is still a tough call; like I said earlier if Switch has a year like the last (~30M) then it has a chance, otherwise I think DS will prevail.
