Forums - Nintendo - Well, looks like next gen didn't kill Switch third party support

If That list meets your standard for good 3rd party support then ur on the money. My standards are much different. Other than nmh3 that list is completely hopeless for me. A last minute announcement of the long rumored biomutant could be cool. Darksiders 3 and rage 2 would be SOMETHING at least. I doubt that happens though. Big AAA games are what im looking for. Ima console gamer, not a handheld gamer. Monster hunter ticks alot of boxes so props for that. that ones more personal preference tho.

Yeap the Switch has terrible third party support. Not as bad as the Wii U maybe, but yeah. Sports games? Nope. Top games every year from Ubisoft (Assassin's Creed? Nope), EA? Mass Effect or Anthem or Jedi Fallen Order? Nope. It's the Nintendo game system.

Of my collection of 34 Switch games, only 7 are Nintendo games.

The DS sold about 154 million units worldwide. About 20 million units of those sales were DSi. What were the big name, blow back your hair, duck for cover, brace for impact games that the DSi got that the DS couldn't handle? Brain Training? Lol.

Yeah, publishers are going to put Resident Evil 8 and Final Fantasy VII Remake on a stopgap console that will sell 15-20 million units lifetime and will only be relevant 1.5-2 years before Switch 2 launches.

The DSi/XL sold 41 million units.

Also, it wouldn't make sense for Nintendo to cut of the legs of the Switch Pro and Splatoon 3 by releasing the Switch 2 in 2023.

Out of the 151 games on my Switch 29 are Nintendo first party games.

I have bought all of the NBA2K games on Switch (2K18, 2K19, 2K20, & 2K21), and they are all fantastic ports.  So, 2K at least seems to find it worthwhile porting their biggest franchise to the Switch on an annual basis.  EA might not think so, but that's their loss.  I haven't bought a Madden from them since Madden 13 on Wii U.  As soon as they stopped bringing their games to all platforms, I stopped buy from them.  And that was despite owning an XBox One the entire time.  It's all well and good that EA's market data research shows that many Switch owners also own an XBox One or a PS4, but that doesn't obligate me to support them on another system over the one I use most.

However, I am curious where you got your numbers. If I remember correctly, I got mine from Wikipedia.

Even EA seems to finally be waking up with Plants vs Zombies Battle for Neighbourville, Apex Legends, and the remasters of Burnout Paradise and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit all ported to Switch recently and Lost in Random and Knockout City announced to be on the way.

I also got my numbers from Wikipedia, the article "List of best-selling game consoles". It says the OG DS sold 18.79 million units, the DS Lite sold 93.86 million units and the DSi and DSi XL sold a combined 41.37 million units.

It was Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered not Most Wanted.

My bad, I meant Hot Pursuit but for some reason as I was typing it some wires got crossed in my brain haha
