I went back and looked at the second week, Famitsu, for Mario 3D All Stars. Here is how it compares to 3D World + Bowser's Fury second week

[NSW] Super Mario 3D All-Stars (Nintendo) {2020.09.18} (Â¥6.480) - 63.803 / 273.939 (-70%)
[NSW] Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Nintendo) {2021.02.12} (Â¥5.980) - 97.955 / 347.973 (-61%)

There seems to be even more demand for 3D World than for 3D All Stars. In Nintendo's last report they said 3D All Stars shipped 8.32m worldwide so far. Assuming the ratios on Famitsu are indicative of worldwide sales, it looks like 3D World is on track to be another 10m+ seller. Sales so far, at least, are tracking ahead of 3D All Stars.

It also seems like Nintendo learned from 3D All-Stars when they shipped the initial shipment for 3D World. They shipped at most ~415k and at the least 312.5k, much less than the 460k they shipped for 3d All- Stars.

Around the Network

Slow week all around but Switch stills wins by a landslide, just a less massive one than usual. Still 3:1 over its nearest rival.

Next week will be a huge week for Marvelous, the thing I'm most interested about is how large the initial shipment for the game is, my expectations are in the 300K to 350K range and for them to have to restock in time for the Monster Hunter Rise launch. The synergy with New Horizon is too strong, pair that up with a 3-D port of a Gameboy game selling over 200K, Sakuna becoming their best selling game ever in Japan and Rune Factory 5 launching in May.. this must be the most profitable period in their history. Gotta hand it to Tencent, they really bought a stake in the company at the right time

  • Bowser's Fury moves up two positions due to a strong second week, no other movement in the Top 20
  • Little Nightmares 2 is near 50K sold across the Switch/PS4 in its second week, great growth for the franchise
  • Due to Famitsu 2020 Top 100 and some PS4 games charting I can complete the Top 40
  • First time DQXI on the PS4 charted this year but it seems its doing alright for itself outside the Top 30
  • Nier: Automata also is benefiting from it's lower price point and Replicant
  • Next week hopefully there would be no sub 10K games in the Top 40 with Olive Town and Bravely Default 2 launching.

Deep dip for Switch, lowest so far this year. As I said last week, with Bravely Default 2 (and as pikashoe added: even more because of Story of Seasons) the Switch probably should be back up to 100K.

PS5 keeps solid healthy sales, which probably means it gets now decent shipments in Japan.

Pretty decent hold for Bowser Fury, this looks like it will become a hit.

Pretty decent hold for Little Nightmares as well, on both platforms.

Overall solid week, next week with new entries should be very interesting.

Between Momotaro, Story of Seasons and Monster Hunter it looks like 3rd-parties may have a pretty good year on Switch ahead.

So no PS5 game sold more than 1370 copies in Japan this week. Even with the system's lack of games, that's a very low bar.

About 75k for the Switch, as expected from the COMG! numbers.

Meanwhile, the PS5 tries to catch up to the PS4
