Forums - Gaming - Can't make up my mind about whether to get a Series X and here's why

Switch successor is likely around 3-4 years away, and with Nintendo opting for lower specs it's bound to be less powerful than the twins. Especially if they are keeping the hybrid model that's been so successful for them. The next switch might be equivalent to a base PS4 and I'm not sure if that will have the power to run something like Hellblade 2. Then again nobody at the launch of Switch would consider it running things like Doom 2016 or the witcher.

I don't understand, you're like the 5th person who tell me this.

Like, I thought that the "I" and "me" part was explicit enough to demonstrate it's my opinion

For the record, this is the same guy who not too long ago said that he'll never buy another Nintendo console. Now he's on the brink of never buying a non-Nintendo console again.

Wouldn't removing the never from the last part of the sentence make more sense? forget about it I reread it.

The perfect dark announcement sealed it for me. My series x is on back order :)

There are alternatives, you simply pester CGI to make you a comp from his old parts, if that fails you make a thread asking for VGChartz
members to post what parts they no longer use and are willing to give away, then with that done you get CGI or Pem to pick out the best match ups.

If that fails I have another plan, you sneak down to Melbourne. while I'll steal a yacht and sail across Bass Strait, and pick you up in Port Melbourne if anyone asks tell them you are waiting for the Ferry to Tasmania but it's broken down and they have sent a yacht, then we depart for South Australia to track down Pemalites house should be easy we just ask around the local fire stations, should take us no more than twenty minutes, how many stations could they have ? once found you break into his house while I keep watch and bingo one great gaming PC easypeasy. now I know you are going to complain about this being far from a simple computer pickup, but the alternatives tracking down CGI in the US and he might shoot us.

PS. PM me if you have any queries, we can't alert the Pem last time I incurred his wrath he cursed me, and to this day I no longer have matching socks.

450 fire stations covering a land area of 983,482 squared kilometers/379,725 square miles.

Have you found socks that match yet?

Well I can list you all of the games of Game Pass and tell exactly why it doesn't interest me

To the Op. Just wait it out. Things will improve by years end.

What a low blow throwing that into the  face of a man who is stuck with the options of wearing odd socks and looking like an idiot, (especially playing sports like aussie rules) or alternatively wearing no socks and looking like some kind of metro hipster, btw cross my heart and hope someone else dies, I knew those figures but 20 minutes still stands I'm real lucky. also we only need to look at areas with good  internet.

Definitly not worth buying the new consoles yet. I currently have a PS5.

There just is not enough next gen experiences to be had on either. I would imagine the Series X is even worse off.

That being said, Gamepass is the real deal, and if you plan to play the full Xbox catalogue in glorious 4k on a Series X for the first time, I would say go ahead!

I think for a lot of people, myself included, feel the new consoles were worth buying already because how it enhances existing games or cross gen games.

Quick resume is a great Xbox feature if I feel like jumping into my progress quickly. Faster loading, more 60 fps experiences either by brute force or patches. Even playing Halo:MCC at a solid 60 fps with split screen is a nice bonus we didn't have until the new consoles launched.

This isn't like previous gens where you just waited for new games on your new console. Improving my backlog is a big deal.

Absolutely the improvements are vast across the board, I agree completely.

But....playing older games is not for everyone. Re-playing older games just because of a bump in res and framerate is for even less people.

This is why my recommendation is based on whether or not the thread creator has already played the Xbox catalog, if not then its a no brainer for me.

The point being conveyed is that your or anyone's individual opinion is ultimately irrelevant in the wider scheme of things. It's not personal.

Well, saying Gamepass only has Old/lame games, is just plain false.

Old - MS games release day and date as well as Dozens of indies or deals MS has with 3rd parties

Lame - This one is subjective, if you mean poorly received, that can be debunked. If you mean games you're not interested in, bet I can find games in gamepass that you've played.

If you can't find something to like on Gamepass, at this point it's on you, especially with the Bethesda deal closing. And for $10-$15 a month, expecting all 3rd party releases day and date isn't rational.

I don't think I ever met a gamer who is solely interested in the latest games. Especially if you are a working person that doesn't have time to play everything when it releases. Furthermore, games stay popular for years because many people keep playing them.

We are also talking to someone who wants to play 8th gen ports on Switch. You know what plays 8th gen games really well? 9th gen consoles.

Series S or X makes sense as well given the games he wants to play.
