That was such a terrible and stupid comparison, it's understandable that Disney wouldn't want to be associated with her

For now, though some on the left including AOC have essentially called for re-education camps for Trump supporters. |
The word "essentially" is doing a ton of heavy lifting there...

Not really. AOC's exact wording was calling increased funding for re-education programs for white supremacists, but I can tell you right now that in the mind of someone like AOC, there is no distinction between the more radical aspects of Trump's voter base, who likely make up less than 15% of it, and the normal everyday center right and moderates who voted for him. |
Hey, if you want to make the argument that Trump Supporters are not meaningfully distinct from White Supremacists and Domestic Terrorists, you do you.
There is also a pretty huge difference between rounding people up for re-education camps, and funding programs like Life After Hate (which AOC cited), which is a voluntary programs which provides aid to people looking to get free from racist ideologies.

I'll take your word for it because I'm happy discussing this with that assumed as true. My understanding is that Pratt's transgression was going to a church that is homophobic. This is something that a company should not be able to fire you over because you have not made any public statements that could hurt their bottom line. The Gina situation is different because she is making public statements on social media that is making one of her employers second guess if she's too much of a liability. I am ok with a world in which that distinction is made.
Out of curiosity (and this is to the void not necessarily you specifically but I feel it's related), what evidence is there that Chris Pratt is let wing? It's being suggested that he was forgiven for going to an anti-LGBT church because he is left wing but I've seen no evidence that he is.

I wouldn't really call Griffin cancelled. Yeah, a company dropped her from being their spokeswoman, but she still got to go on a whole comedy tour after her supposed cancellation, which she named after the "joke" that people criticized her for in the first place. Considering her "joke" was literally a sitting President's severed head, I'd say she got off with a slap on the wrist. |
She had her tour canceled for a year. As a standup comedian I imagine that feels pretty canceled. Does the fact that Gina still gets to be an actress mean she wasn't cancelled?

She said that they should double to quadruple the funding for white supremacist reeducation programs...
So, how much do we fund reeducation programs for white supremacists now? If we increased it 4x would it be possible, even if there were no legal barrier, to send 75 million Trump voters to a reedcuation camp? I mean, even if we treat them like shit, that's gotta be like 10,000 bucks per person at least, which would be like 75 trillion dollars. And... I doubt we're spending 19 trillion dollars right now, so mathematically, she can't be suggesting we put everyone in camps.
But, I guess you gotta try to get to the left is all nazis any way you can... If we're citing random twitter posts as representative of the left, can we take some parler posts to represent the right?

I just really want to point out how ridiculous it is that AOC is being demonized for this. Here is a video she posted of an individual with Life After Hate speaking about what they do:
https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=433755081309212
This is a program which provides support to people who reach out to help, and what really is wrong or evil about that? No one is rounding up Trump supporters, they are providing essentially a "suicide hotline" type of service to help people who have have been tempted to the verge of domestic terrorism. They speak about a veteran who had begun obsessing about his local Muslim community. Instead of taking violent action against them, he reached out to this group. They sent two of their workers there to provide support and help him understand the misinformation that he likely internalized, culminating in him meeting with the Imam at the local mosque and interacting with the local Muslim community in a healthy and positive way.
Why should we not provide funding to groups such as this? Why should these services not be available to help people who are having dangerous thoughts?
Then to have someone look at this and say "oh yeah, this is basically a proposal for re-education camps for Trump supporters"... Like, fuck off with that shit. It's blatant fear mongering bullshit. In my opinion, this type of misinformation is far more damaging to our public discourse than some people saying mean things on Twitter.

But where did AOC say she wanted to put people in camps? She talked about increasing funds for re-education programs but there's a rather big difference between programs and camps.

I think hes right wing. I mean he doesnt seem to talk much about it, so I dont know.
It's really simple. Pedro Pascal compared Republicans to Nazis that lost WW2, with a picture saying everyone was a crybaby. Gina says, no, Republicans are more like the Jews, the new segment of society that has become socially acceptable to attack. You have to change people's attitudes before the government can do it officially, was the point of her post. She got fired, he did not. Enough said. We all know how the world works. Keep to yourself or the Democrats will be out for your blood. They are intolerant.
