Forums - Gaming Discussion - Doom 2016 or Eternal?

I think the best is...

Doom 2016 13 54.17%

Doom Eternal 11 45.83%

Total:24

Doom 2016. Eternal was more or less just the same thing as 2016.

For me, i love maximalist games with variation weapons, faster reacting, combo gun shooting and brutal maps designed.

It's Doom Eternal.

Yeah. Doom 2016 is minimalist.

Doom 2016 was like back to basic FPS game due to mismanagement development of the original Doom 4. Hence, the multiplayer mode was missed opportunity that played like a Halo game.

Neither. NintenDoom1889

Doom 2016 is the obvious answer, I voted for that.

Doom Eternal is not designed for console at all, you're constantly forced to take your thumbs of the sticks in this game. I don't play with back buttons or use claw hand. The problem with doom eternal is the game devs wanted to add a lot of new stuff so we are forced to use chain saw often, flame thrower to give armor, dash and jump. All these abilities forces you to take your right thumb of the aim stick all the time. But it also issue with switching grenades and use sword, to use those abilities you need to take of your left thumb the movement stick, this not so often though.

I can't see how anyone voted for Doom Eternal because of these reasons.

I'm having fun with doom eternal though, have completed the game around 5 times on nightmare difficulty and aiming to beat it on ultra-nightmare, this ofc without claw hand or back buttons. But I'm getting old and only play around 30-60min a day.

6x master league achiever in starcraft2

Beaten Sigrun on God of war mode

Beaten DOOM ultra-nightmare with NO endless ammo-rune, 2x super shotgun and no decoys on ps4 pro.

1-0 against Grubby in Wc3 frozen throne ladder!!

Eternal. It's bit controversial, some Doom fans didn't like the change because the game is different from the typical Doom games. But I personally prefer it over Doom 2016. If I want to play the minimalistic FPS Doom game, I'd rather play 1993 Doom than 2016. Eternal was at least trying to experiment with some new ideas and I liked the result.

They both bored me a bit tbh, I guess ive grown out of FPS, but I did had more fun with Eternal's faster pacing and the soundtrack is great, so... Eternal.
2016's soundtrack is also good tho.

Doom Etenal for me was over designed where the want you to use 'this' weapon on 'that' enemy. For me that takes away the player choice, you can really only play the game the way the devs want you to play. While in Doom 2016 I can approach the situation however I want with want ever gun I want. I understand this makes the game easier and a bit of a mindless shooter I just find it more fun.

Doom Eternal for me, I just like the more varied environments, more weapons, more platforming to make it more than a run and gun game, I also like how the game is longer since one of my biggest problems with 2016 was that it wasn't enough Doom. Doom Eternal is so varied and expansive that it makes 2016 Doom, which Is a great game, feel shallow in comparison.

Agreed with you: Doom Eternal needs a keyboard and mouse or gyro +motion controls, at the least. Doom Eternal is a game of precision and intense adaptation. My ultra nightmare run is a comedy, but I go through that. Great game and before the expansion, when I hate microwave, now because of the expansion, rocket+microwave+bomb is my favorite combo.
