Doom Etenal for me was over designed where the want you to use 'this' weapon on 'that' enemy. For me that takes away the player choice, you can really only play the game the way the devs want you to play. While in Doom 2016 I can approach the situation however I want with want ever gun I want. I understand this makes the game easier and a bit of a mindless shooter I just find it more fun.
