If you take 5 years on pre-production and 3 years on production while having revealed the game 8 years ago and from what some devs have said they were in death march crunchy for almost 2 years yes you can point out a lot of fingers at CDPR management. They put themselves in this situation.

Oh that I agree 100%. It was pretty stupid to announce this game 8 years ago when all you had were some interns playing the table top game during lunch break while working on Witcher 3.

I guess that without overhype marketing (with the aggravation of hiding base consoles performance and delayed reviews), excessive promises, "being a 8 year project"  the game would have got a lot less complain now, it would just be a regular game filled with bugs, crashes and performance issue (that although is less quantity happen in several games). Unfortunately to CDPR they dug their own grave and so far their apologies doesn't cover it, perhaps in 6-12 months all will be well. but their prestige will take a lot longer to recover (still it may not hurt their bottom line seeing as several companies routinely do very bad stuff without much consequence).

Nice post. Of course absolutely NOTHING justifies what they did, lie and hide the problems and release the game anyway, does not matter if it was forced by shareholders or not. But yeah, you cant compare it with the release cycle of for example, assassins creed or call of duty which are basically well oiled machines of releasing games. You cant also compare the 8 years of "development" of this game with the 3-4 years of development of other open world games. Cyberpunk had basically 4-5 years of pre production and 3 years of production.

Still, nothing justifies what they did, on purpose. Still I cant wait to play it, probably on February after the big patches because it seems to be really amazing. Also this game will definitely have long legs, multiplayer, dlc's and I truly believe they will pull out a game as service model at some point juts like GTA 5. We will still be talking about cyberpunk 4 years down the road.

Maybe they hired Star Citizen's devs. It would explain at least the dev time. If they hired Duke Nukem Forever's devs, then bugs and bloody mess would be nicely explained too.

You know what I will give them some credit.

At least they apologised.

Now the reason I am giving them some credit because when Nintendo console gets a dog pile of shit and gamers don't buy it, oh the console has "no Audience" rather than sorry we fucked up thinking Nintendo gamers are stupid and will buy it anyway.

Now how I feel, they should have put out an early copy to say 1000 gamers on each system (based on some criteria, maybe hours spent playing witcher 3) and just delayed it to 2021 and let the small user base find all the bugs and fixe them.

They only apologised because everyone was shitting them. Like how when someone breaks the law or did something bad only apologise because they got caught. They know what they were doing.

Even worse is that they talked about reimbursement but well they haven`t set up nothing special, you have to ask the store where you bought and their policy is what will dictate if you can or cannot be reimbursed. With that e-mail meaning only "we will try our best, no specifics, to help out if they don`t reimburse". They plainly lied again on their own apologize letter.

They couldn't even do 2 seconds of research to find out that Playstation has a terrible refund policy, which I would call the "tough shit" policy.

That would mean we believe they don't know about the policies of the store they have been selling stuff for several years. It is just that they were trying to shift focus from themselves. Sony return policy is very bad, but you can be sure they knew it. If they didn't them they are even worse in management that any of us thought.

Does not in any way make sence..

What I think,, Google made some shady deal to get Stadia look better and will probably buy CD Projekt RED very soon.

This whole situation is very unfortunate. They made an incredible game, but tarnished their reputation by delivering such shitty ports. When you put crunch on top of that, I feel sorry for the poor developer who had to pretty much sacrifice his life for that.

I hope this can be enough to show devs and publishers that PS4 and Xbox One need to go. It's sad, but it's time. They had amazing sales on PC, they didn't really need old consoles for this game to be a success. Yes, they would lose sales without consoles, but they could always try an impossible port down the line. Switch owners can handle late ports, I'm sure last gen-only owners can as well.

That would be a industry shaking purchase right there if it meant horrible ports/no ports to anything outside of Stadia. It's one thing to buy a studio up and still deliver good ports on other systems, but that right there would get me to quit even non-gaming google products going forward. I've already switched to Edge and Bing (they clog up my memory a WHOLE lot less than flipping Chrome from the dark ages does).
