This is a common occurrence in non-native English speakers. Since we are so used to hearing the term "Desktop computers," our brains automatically go to "Desktop consoles" first when talking about home consoles. In my case, it usually takes me a second to correct the mistake in my mind before actually writing it.

A desktop console is a console you can use on a desktop. Therefore, all consoles are desktop consoles. Gotcha, mah dude. 



My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

A lot of people flagged issues with them now and in the past, so it's good to show them that we, or more accurately Hiku in this case, are taking it seriously and on top of things. Also, PMing wouldn't work cause they couldn't read it. One of the main reasons not to do such things in thread is that people generally don't like getting called out publicly and it leads to tension in the future, but if it's gonna be a perm anyway, that's really not an issue. They also can't respond back, so the risk of serious derailing is minimal.

Thank you for investigating this and exposing this. At first I thought Yanis might've been an overly-obsessed fanboy of Nintendo who is obsessed with the fact that the Switch is selling but eventually it became weird and sus that this dude kept repeating the same topics for months now, and says a bunch of just false fanboyish statements that support Nintendo, such as Nintendo having much better sales than Sony when it's not true. But now this confirmed to me he's an annoying troll.

That was a very close one. Switch was still able to come on top against the PS5 and PS4.

It is strange that the PSP is the top selling console at launch in Spain by such a large margin. I wonder if in the end it was higher or lower than other consoles.

Not really, it had the brand recognition the Playstation has in Spain and the portable format that makes handhelds so successful here. Plus it had that multimedia functionality that made heads turn for a while, before smartphones became more popular.

I'm not sure the problem is supply issues. In Spain the "Play" has had a traditional advantage over the XBox. Nintendo always managed to succeed here thanks to handhelds being quite popular (even the Vita did relatively ok here, relatively). I think this is just consumer inertia.

Sorry maybe I wasn't to clear in how I wrote it.

In Australia the XBOX sold out. If sales are a similar ratio to Spain and everyone here is still chasing an Xbox, then Microsoft has lost sales and really need to step up their manufacturing before people get tired of waiting and get a PS5 if that comes back in stock first.

Basically I was implying they have an opportunity to gain some market share they lost last gen because it is currently sold out and in demand. If they can get more stock out there in stores they should be able to sell more units than last gen. 

Also COVID is definitely helping the gaming market sell consoles, both need to take advantage of it whilst it is red hot. Could see the industry grow and hopefully retain a few people post COVID when people start going back outdoors  and forget about home entertainment lol.
