I haven’t played all of them, but (anecdotal) I know quite a few who did, and the titles that come up the most when discussing which one is the best in the series/genre are Demon’s Souls, the first Dark Souls, and Bloodborne.

That is the typical consensus, with BB and Dark 1 leading the way as the best.  The combat in BB is really loved, while the world design is Souls 1 is considered the series apex.  Demon gets a lot of love for being the first.

Souls 2 is practically universally agreed as the weakest, due to some poor bosses.

Personally, I think Souls 3 is the best, but it doesn't get the recognition due to franchise fatigue.  Souls 3 gets dinged a bit (by some, I don't agree) for the back to back bosses in late game (e.g. Lothric Castle).

Either way, there is no bad game in the series, even Souls 2 is a really good game (and gets too much flak).

Demon's Souls is by far the best Souls game out there.Anyone that says otherwise is objectively wrong.Source: me

Most people who think that usually prefer the fragmented structure of the world (accessing different regions through a hub area) in comparison to Dark Souls' interconnected map. I love Demon's Souls, but I find Dark Souls far more immersive. It is like a puzzle, I try to draw a map in my head.

The game is at 93 with 4 reviews. Off to a great start.

As good a source as most used in VGC =p

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Same source that claims Legend of Dragoon is the best game ever, Might be a trustworthy source.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

i feeling it. This game will be the first PS5 90+ game, perhaps even Goty 2020.

GOTY for gen9 or on the genre I can certainly see, but I don't think it will pass TLOU2 for general.

We can all agree here that TLOU2 is not going anywhere. I'm sure ghost of sushima will be more praised.

Fair enough, and i also think it will win in some other categories. I'm 95% sure it will be one of the games nominated for Goty... i think at least TLOU2 and Demon's Souls are going to be in the list, perhaps Dreams and Ghost of Tsushima can also make it.

2020, such amazing year for playstation: TLOUS 2, Ghost, Dreams, Spider-man, DS:Remake, FF7 Remake, Nioh 2 and many others. One of the best years ever for any console maker, Sony dominated 2020 for sure!

I like GoT more and the name is closer to GOTY, but critically wise it will be hard to snag the title from TLOU2.
