Command & Conquer (PC)

Change YOY:-3

While I wouldn't in any way call the original Command & Conquer the best game in the series, it is the one that I have the fondest memories of, and the strongest attachment to. It is, after all, the game that made me a fan or real-time strategy in the first place. Curiously, it wasn't the PC version that I first experienced back in the '90s, but rather the admittedly inferior PS1 port, which I nonetheless played for countless hours back in the day. In fact, I still remember the exact sequence of buttons needed to press for four of the cheat codes in the PS1 version (Ion Cannon, Air Strike, Map Code, 5000 Credits).

I still love the gameplay, despite its obviously dated nature by today's standards, and the story is a lot of fun as well, being much more serious than in later C&C games. I also think Kane is one of the genuinely greatest video game villains of all time.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (PS3)

Change YOY: -3

In my opinion, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is the best game Ninja Theory has ever made (though I haven't played Senua's Sacrifice, so there's that caveat). In terms of visual design its still one of the my favourite looking games ever, as I just love the lush, post-apocalyptic world the game presents to the player. The gameplay is overall quite straightforward and simple, both in terms of combat and movement, but it's still a lot of fun to do.

However, the thing that really makes Enslaved such a great game to me are the two main characters, Monkey and Trip, and their developing relationship over the course of the game. It's the one element that stands above everything else the game has, and makes it such a memorable experience in my mind. In fact, now that I'm thinking about the game, I might just go back and replay it once I'm done with the game I'm working through right now. It has been quite a long time since my previous playthrough.

Double Dragon?

Correct!

More hints:

30. a.  There is a PS4 first party exclusive that is strongly inspired by this third party entry, the first time this franchise went open world.
b. The game I'm looking for originally appeared on the PS2.
c. This game was also based on a movie of the same name.
d. The main character is a super hero.

29. a. This first entry in the series is based on a classic piece of literature.
b. There is a character in this game that is over three hundred years old and only ever had one true friend.
c.  "The Water Margin".
d. The original concept of this game was that you would wander the marshes of China and gather together legendary heroes, but before the game was released they added more traditionally fantasy things like elves and dwarves.

27. a. This RPG is greatly loved by it's fans around the world.  It also had a direct sequel that was greatly loved by fans of this game in Japan, but largely hated by fans in the rest of the world.
b. This game marks a transition point in this series.  This is the last home game that had both the series' creator and series' main musical composer make significant contribuitions.  But even here, the series' creator did not have as direct a hand in making this game as on he did on previous entries.

26. This game finds a variety of different ways to combine the most popular game in the world with another game created by Sega.

27 is correct!  I'm not sure why you said "Ewww".

30. There is no PS2 game named "The Amazing Spider-Man".  You are on the right track though.

30) Spider-Man 2?

Also wish I had answered FFX, considered it based on the first hint, but wasn't sure if X-2 was really that hated (haven't played it myself either).

Spider-Man 2 is correct!

"Hated" may have been too strong of a word for FFX-2.  I should have said something like "disappointed".

Pokémon third versions are separate things or they will be counted as one game with the original ones?

@mZuzek needs ultimatively to answer that, but last years result thread has the following as one game:

  • Pokémon Diamond / Pearl & Platinum versions
  • Pokémon Ruby / Sapphire & Emerald versions
  • Pokémon Red / Blue & Yellow versions
  • Pokémon Gold / Silver & Crystal versions

So it seems they are counted with the originals.
