Forums - Sony Discussion - Digital Foundry PS5 BC Review & Series X comparison (Surprises inside)

Edit: Had a loading time comparison but apparently it was based on out of date PS5 firmware. Will wait for more up to date comparisons there

Odd. Seems like SONY undersold their BC efforts. The results of their efforts aren't just satisfactory enough. They are, as DF puts it, fantastic?

wow much better than I expected.

Digital Foundry seem to be in love with it, showcaseing alot of games that run better in BC on PS5 vs the XSX.
(ei. XSX games target higher resolutions, but fail to keep locked 60fps (50-60fps ranges), while PS4 is slightly lower resolution but always 60)

Hyped for it. Nice to see that they put effort on it.

It was an interesting video indeed.
If you had a 30 FPS cap, you have one now (and need it removed).
If it was 900p before, it is 900 now.

The one I found most interesting was Sekiro. PS went checkerboard, Xbox went native. Yet the PS has a better frame-rate because of that.

Oh and clearly the best? 60FPS Knack.

Alot of the games with unlocked framerates, because the PS4pro target lower resolutions, it means in BC, the PS5 runs locked 60fps.
The jump from "Xbox One X" to "Xbox series X" is smaller, so alot of games in BC with unlocked frame rates, they fail to hit 60 fps.

DF made it sound like BC is better on the PS5.

Does the Xbox Series X works the same or, besides the auto-hdr mode, they have something extra?

Yes a very good BC that Sony didn't keep talking about because that isn't their strategy...
Hope most devs at least make quick patches to unlock framerate and resolution.

Some will miss those loading times on the subway for the quick travel.
