But they already have 4 big first party games scheduled for 2021 currently, Horizon 2, Gran Turismo 7, God of War 5, and Ratchet & Clank. That is total overkill, especially since they have 2 AAA timed hats releasing in 2021 as well, plus several smaller AA and A exclusives. Better to delay God of War and possibly one other to 2022 imo, because they likely have very little from 1st party studios coming in 2022, especially their AAA 1st party studios. Naughty Dog just released TLOU 2, they probably won't release their next game until 2023-2024. Sucker Punch just released Ghost of Tsushima, they probably won't release their next game until 2024. The rumored new Uncharted at Sony San Diego only began development in 2019, with that team expanding slowly, so it might not release until 2023 or 2024. Maybe Bend can get Days Gone 2 out in 2022, but Sony's 2022 line-up would look much better with both Days Gone 2 and God of War 5.

I see no good reason for Sony to have an overkill year in 2021, that would hurt them in mores ways than one; their exclusives would end up competing against one another for sales, and it would hurt their 2022 line-up.

I appreciate that you have actually given this some thought. It's not a bad theory, originally you specified just GOW and HZD- I thought there was some reasoning behind those specific games together- but I have to agree it's likely either GOW, HZD or GT get delayed to early 2023.

My guess would be GOW. GG were able to get to terms with new tech very quickly (PS4) and launch KZ:SF and their team has since expanded. GOW games seem to typically launch in spring as well so I could see that being a March or April 2022 title.

As for 2022 in general- I think FF16, Possibly a Bend, Uncharted or From Software game. It may not need much padding.

Could be the greatest launch year for a console ever: GoW, HFW, Ratchet, Demon's Souls, Miles, GT7, Returnal, Sackboy, Destruction All Stars, Astro's Playroom, Kena, Stray and other timed exclusives like Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo.

Sony has all the bases covered. A couple of massive franchises (GoW, HFW, Miles), popular franchises (GT7, DeS, Ratchet), a variety of games, new IP's, and most of them should review well (85+).

Dreamcast is still king at best console launch lineup. SNES was damn amazing as well.

Yep. I almost started a Dreamcast collection years ago. The only thing that stopped me was that so many of the games started to get ported to other systems. But while doing my research I realized just how insanely STACKED the Dreamcast's 1st year was. :D

Well, for me, at the launch of the ps5 there is not a lot that interests me, with the exception of Miles Morales but this is not enough to get me to purchase the console at launch. However, the number and quality of exclusives coning in the first year or two is superb and I will seriously consider buying the console when HZ: FW or GOW come out.

Yeah this is easy the best Playstation lineup ever for the first 2 years of life. And I cannot wait to play them.

Harriet Tubman.

Nearly everything on that list is coming to PS4, so i would say its a crap line up. I still pre ordered though and super hyped, but more hyped for the future of the platform rather then the 1st year. Im deffo going to pick up Horizon and AC valhalla though on PS5.

Don't think it looks that great to be honest, especially now that spiderman is cross-gen. I cancelled my preorder for a ps5 as October and November have huge 3rd party game releases and I can also play spiderman on ps4 (which for me, was a big part of wanting to get the ps5). Also ps5 games are more expensive than ps4 games, just because they are 'next gen' - I think it's just blatant price gouching and in six months to a year, those prices will come way down.
Demon's Souls remake looks good - okay but it's literally 50% more expensive than a ps4 game, just because it's a 'next gen' title. Also, after playing ghost of tsushima, the gameplay looks a little underwhelming and simple - dodge/roll and hack - doesn't really look that appealing after playing ghost of tsushima, at least for me.
I think ps5 will have some great games in the future and no doubt will be worth picking up in time but after playing the waiting game in 2020... waiting for cyberpunk, waiting for ghost of tsushima, waiting for FF7 remake, waiting for a COVID19 vaccine (lol), I will try to wait until next year for a ps5 when more ps5 only exclusives are about to come out (?god of war).

The godfall news really put me off. It was not a game I was super hyped about anyways. But its launch so there wasent many options. After the always online requirement for a single player game, its an instant no buy from me.
