I guess they thought Japanese sales weren’t high enough yet. Also, WiiU has no games left to port, so they’re moving on to XBox One.

Wells thats not gona take very long. Better have another console in line.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Combine this third party direct with the Mario 35th direct and throw in Age of Calamity and we pretty much got E3 in September, just spread out over 2 weeks.

I'm sure it was a complete coincidence that Nintendo announces a new Monster Hunter the day after the PS5 showcase because everyone knows they don't compete with each other.

They've been having some kind of presentation like weekly or every 2 weeks now for a while, not their fault if Sony happens to also have an event.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

The one big missing game is Doom Eternal. Been ages since its delay on Switch,.

Yeah that's my one concern atm; id software keep insisting it's "really close" and that they'll make an announcement "soon/shortly" but it feels like it's been pushed back to the end of time.

Yeah I was just thinking how this month has been huge for Switch announcements. Nintendo putting out strong vibes this month to compete against the Xbox and PS5 unveilings.

Pretty smart by Nintendo. Get everyone talking about the Mario 35th anniversary, then drop awesome new Hyrule Warriors out of nowhere to up the excitement. Then right after PS5 announces everything throw out an awesome direct with the Monster Hunter bomb to get people talking about Nintendo again, giving Sony only one day to have the attention focused solely on them in the industry.

Honestly, if not for the pandemic; All of what you just said + SMT III & V + Paper Mario: TOK + New Pokémon Snap + Bravely Default II would have probably been their E3 Direct.

Pretty much, and it would've been one hell of a show, possibly Switch's strongest E3 yet. And don't forget No More Heroes 3, which was slated to arrive this year but was delayed due to COVID, that probably would've been there too.

So probably Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2, Age of Calamity, Mario Kart Live, 3D All Stars, 3D World + Bowser's Fury, New Pokemon Snap, Bravely Default II, No More Heroes 3, and SMT V.

Ah yes, that's true. I also think that if not for COVID, Monster Hunter Rise would have been the big holiday title for the Switch. In hindsight, with no COVID/pandemic, I could have seen the 2nd half of 2020 looking like this

July - Paper Mario: The Origami King
Aug - Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity + SMT III (Japan only)
Sept. - Super Mario 3D All Stars
Oct. - Bravely Default 2 + Pikmin 3 Deluxe
Nov. - Mario 3D World Deluxe
Dec. - Monster Hunter Rise + NMH 3

The Switch probably wouldn't have sold nearly as much as it's selling now, but there's a very good chance that this year could still have been its peak year with Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter supercharging Japan, along with Mario's 35th anniversary serving as the cherry on top of the cake.

I also think that the E3 Direct would have given us another trailer for Breath of the Wild 2 with a '2021' release date. To serve as the "one final game to show you" surprise.

Yeah that's a good point, without the pandemic we may have gotten another look at BOTW2 by now. Heck, Doom Eternal might even be out by now haha *wipes away a tear*

PS4 is logically after that, can’t wait for Knack on Switch.
