Forums - Sales - If Xbox Series S is 100$ cheaper than PS5 All-Digital, does Xbox have a legitimate chance of outselling PS5 this gen?

If Xbox Series S is 100$ cheaper than PS5, could Xbox Outsell PS5?

Yes, Xbox is the favorite to win 9 5.77%

Yes, it's possible 36 23.08%

Unlikely 60 38.46%

No chance 51 32.69%

Total:156

Price will only sway the moms and dads who don't really know the ins and outs of each console. For anyone who has come to value Playstation and especially the exclusives they can't get anywhere else, a cheaper console price simply cannot replace that.

I think its gonna sell well for people who are on a budget but want to play new games especially in a pandemic this could actually put a monkey wrench in sonys plans especially when u have a system that can play the same games but at a lower resolution. That won't bother most people especially if they don't have a 4k tv and get to save 100 bucks

this is how ms got so much of the market during the x360 and ps3 generation offered 2 consoles one affordable and one premium and people saw that the same 3rd party games were on the affordable system as the 600 ps3 and Sony lost big on that gamble

Really dont think so. I know I might sound crazzy, but I will say it again, this series s is planed obselence. By same time next year there will be no need for such a low tier device. Entry level laptops by next year will be close in performance to a series s. we are talking $500-$600 with just an APU, when DDR5 and PCIE4 get into laptops. Not to mention xcloud will be the lowest entry price even still. and that will be in your phone for just a little bit less performance. This is a really bad idea.

So what will happen to the Nintendo Switch? Are they going stop selling once XSX and PS5 comes out?

Why would it stop selling? Will Nintendo games be available on everything else once that happens? Like it is for the Xbox. No. There will only be one place to play the next Mario and Zelda. Its why they get away with the over priced switch. Spec wise its not worth it but it has the games.

$25 per month financing with the game pass ultimate, could turn up to be a bigger deal than $100 cheaper system.

In the Americas and Australia? Yes, it could match PS5 sales or even exceed them. In Japan? No way whatsoever. Unlikely to surpass PS5 in Europe either.

I mean in japan not even the ps5 has much of a chance at this point anyway.

If MS and nintendo plays this right they can bring ps5 tumbling down, if they keep the minimum specs to most games at switch level, the advantage the ps5 has in firepower of its lowest model will be moot.

Something only benefiting the USA. Still dead worldwide.

I think it's already available (Xbox All Access) in the US, UK and Australia.

I'd say it still has no chance to beat PS5, but I certainly think it will help a little bit. Though I expect for most people who want a cheaper system they'd rather go Switch than a low powered next gen xbox. If Nintendo didn't exist I think it'd make a much bigger dent as the cheapest current system available. But yeah it'll probably prop up XSeries sales by 5 or 10 million, but when the gap is many tens of millions between Xbox and Playstation that doesn't do much to close the gap.
