Forums - Nintendo - Square Enix: No plans for Kingdom Hearts ports on Switch, technologically difficult, but another Nomura game may be ported

Are people really saying politics when there is literally a kingdom hearts game coming out soon for the switch and nintendo has had multiple kingdom hearts games and the latest kingdom hearts game had a spotlight in the partner showcase.

Thats a bummer, 1.5 and 2.5 would've been nice to play portable

It's some silly musical rhythm game, you can't possibly think that will satisfy fans of the series or Nintendo fans who haven't had a chance to play the series yet?

They are practically trolling us at this point. I don't know what the source of their stupidity is, but stupidity it is!

Difficult = expensive in this case.

Don't matter though, I'll always have love for the original, Kingdom Hearts is a terrible series. KH3 is such a terrible, embarrassing, conclusion to an arc that took waaaay to long to finish. Nothing of Value was lost by this announcement. I still cannot believe what they attempted to do with certain villian. Totally undeserving.

Are you one of the many people that got confused by Xehanort due to a translation flub?

What a crock of shit.

You're really telling me they can't port the 1.5 and 2.5 games to the Switch when they were on the PS3? The Switch is MORE than capable of running those games. It's more than capable of running 2.8 too while we're at it.

Let's look at the package of 2.8:
- Dream Drop Distance; A 3DS game.
- Birth By Sleep: A Fragmentary Passage ; Only takes a few hours to complete and is the length of 1 Kingdom Hearts world according to the designers themselves!
- Back Cover; A 1 hour film based on Kingdom Hearts X - A MOBILE GAME!

The only game in the series that would actually present a challenge to port is '3'. But if Witcher 3 and the definitive version of Dragon Quest XI could run on the Switch, I see know reason why Kingdom Hearts 3 can't.

"Technologically difficult" is just PR talk for "We're lazy shitheads and we don't feel like doing it."

Damn, must really suck to see games you really like to play not coming to your platform of choice. Couldn't imagine the pain Nintendo fans are feeling.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

i dont know what this has to do with people thinking there is some politics involved that is keeping the series back but ok. Im pretty satisfied with MoM so far

"found technology to be difficult" sounds like a meme answer lmao

Pretty much is a lazy answer meant to persuade that it's not possible when it absolutely is.

It can run Crisis - but it can't run Kingdom Hearts? GTFO and find a better excuse!

My guess is that they'd rather wait for the Switch's successor where they can just port all the games with minimal optimization for a significantly cheaper cost. They'll pull some bullshit like selling all of the games separately for $60 each while they give the PS5/SXS Kingdom Hearts 4 and the previous games in a $60 bundle. Then when Nintendo fans ask for Kingdom Hearts 4, they'll spout some non-committal bullshit like "we'll see".
