Forums - Gaming - PS5 or RTX 3080 (Lol update)

What would be wisest?

PS5 54 44.26%

RTX 3080 49 40.16%

Neither, you don't need a... 19 15.57%

Total:122

are there anygameplay examples of ray tracing advanced on the 3000 series ? I'd wait till the 3000 drops in price, get if something huge comes out on pc that will blow away anything else on market.

I rly think, buying console, it is a waste of money no matter if its ps5 or series X. We all know Sony will start transition to PC this gen and you should expect Sony Store for PC in next few years with all ps5 games releasing, at first after 1 or 2 years and then maybe even at the same time on PC. MS is already there. Only blind ppl (or should we call them fanboys?) dont see that. RTX 3080 will get you throught whole gen easily and its better choice then any console. I will buy 3070 to replace 1660Ti because i dont care about 4k, as long as i can play all games 1080p/60 with everything at max i am good and i rly think 3070 will be able to do that,

As a technologically impaired person who enjoys simplicity, I will stick to consoles. Especially considering RTX 3080 will cost 699, and the CPU I'm running now has other bottlenecks (I think I have like an i3 or something and 8gb rams at most). So, I'm guessing I would have to invest in a minimum of 800 to be set for the generation. Sure I'd also have a better computer, but nothing I do on my computer is hardware intensive, so I don't really think I'll need to upgrade within the next 3-4 years at least.

On a separate note, we generally don't allow calling people fanboys, and blind probably isn't a great choice either. You're new, so no biggie, just read up on the forum rules, and reach out to me or the other mods if you have questions. Welcome to the forums :)

Cyberpunk is looking to be that kind of game tbh, and then there's Flight simulator as well. I think both those games would do well at putting the 3080 to the test. I know I'll be wanting to replace my 1080ti for a 3080 when it comes to playing Cyberpunk.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Honestly, each generation the consoles get closer and closer to a PC. The only thing keeping me really getting a PS5 is the exclusives at this stage.

What shits me still is all these day 1 updates ad extra dlc. Consoles need to make it easy to back that shit up.

At least with Steam for example, I just keep putting it on my new PC each time I upgrade and the whole library is there for me to play. With console upgrades, over time the patches vanish and some game are unplayable without them.

A few people mistake this thread for being anti Sony and continue the same rhetoric seen in other threads recent weeks.

A 3080 will destroy a PS5 in performance plus it has DLSS which the PS5 doesn't to widen that gap even further.

If visual fidelity is something important to you, go with the 3080.

I don't understand, why people attempt to make purchase decisions, knowing so little about the products themselves. Don't fall into that marketing trap and just wait until everything's released and properly benchmarked, including Big Navi.

Sry for breaking rules and tnx for welcome. I did read the rules but i simply dont know how to call ppl who dont see the things as they are but instead they see it through the eyes as fans of the company. And the number of these is rly big . I just say that all ppl should be happy that MS and Sony are starting to release their games on PC so instead of buying 2 consoles you will need just 2 .exe files on PC.

Some people haven't really read the OP. I already have a high end gaming system, I'd only be swapping GPU's.

So for me a 3080 to get a massive improvement in multiplat gaming and allowing me to comfortably play at 4k is better for me than spending that same money (after sellling GPU) on a console that I use for exclusives that won't have many exclusives at launch.

Guess for me 80% improvement doesn't seem that impressive when consoles will be getting 1000% improvement due to the longer time between versions.

Well, it's way easier to get a tenfold increase when you start at the very bottom.
