Forums - Gaming - EA done goofed again, Madden 21 is lowest reviewed Madden game ever and getting slammed on social media

And it doesn’t matter.

NFL fans will still blindly buy it.

The NFL will continue to make deals saying that EA is the only company that can make licensed NFL football sims.

FIFA will do likewise with soccer instead of letting Konami compete.

EA will continue doing the same old crap.

Sega should have sabotaged Madden 92 at CES.

Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Last one I bought was Madden NFL 2004. Looks like I got out at the right time.

Wow. It took almost 12 years of subpar games for critics to finally get the balls to admit Madden is trash. NBA 2K is also trash with it's insane amount of MTX. As for Fifa, I have no clue. Is that series good, or is it as bad as it's game covers say it is?

I mean, who the fuck thinks taking a picture of  Israeli Special Ops Guru Erran Morad making duck face, like an idiot, will make a good cover?

Edit: Also this trash of a cover...

Animal Crossing has lower user score than TLOU2 and still sell millions.
Madden will sell good

I agree that Madden will still sell well. But the difference between AC and TLOU2 scores isn't that much at all.

If you watch that list, you will see that every cross-gen entry sees a dip in meta score. This seems to be the case, and next year's entry will probably be bigger and better. Also, the pandemic probably hurt the short development cycle as well.

Now, I am not defending EA in any way, shape or form, and a bad game is still a bad (mediocre?) game, but it makes sense, unfortunately.

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

I liked how everyone just stood around going 'wth?' when the one character was stuck in the tripping animation. Feels like the other AI characters responded to that guy's glitch.

The thing is, Madden NFL has actually been declining most of this generation, and is far from the titan it was circa 2007. VGChartz doesn't have the most recent numbers anymore, but Madden NFL has declined from about 7.5 million annual sales from 2015 to 4.53 million for Madden NFL 18 and 3.72 million for Madden NFL 19.

If EA doesn't get their act together, they really can lose exclusivity for the NFL license, like NBA Live before it.

I have the game. It’s not great, it’s not terrible. User score is stupid, it’s too low to force any change. That low, it’s obvious that these are just trolls and people who probably don’t play the game. Obvious to EA and the NFL I mean.

All the NFL/NFLPA will care about is whether EA can continue to pay the licensing fees and pay them truck loads of cash for exclusive rights. And all EA will care about is whether MUT still makes them the truckloads of cash they need to make those payments.

People are starved for entertainment right now, it’s going to sell just fine. Hell, with no NCAA football going, the NCAAF 14 on PS3/360 are selling for like $90+ online

Notice how the review scores were in the 90s when NFL2K was around and promptly fell off a cliff once EA locked up exclusivity. NFL2K5 was the last time they had direct competition.
